Beer.
Shiner Bock brews a beer with chilies…it’s pretty good…beers brewed with chilies are basically pretty good.
I love a good easy-to-drink beer like Budweiser or Molson Canadian or whatever. There’s no need to get all “I’ll never drink (domestic beer) again after trying this unknown brand that only I know about!”
It’s almost like Indy bands and people not liking them after 3 of their friends also know about the band.
For the darker types of beers, this Belhaven Best I had in Glasgow last week was good, and such a beautiful color!

I like your point on ‘gateway’ beer and your thoughts on Koch have given me pause in my hatred of him…something like 90% of all ‘craft’ beers bought in the states are now Sam Adams…I only drink them when there’s nothing else but miller, et al available…my turning point with them actually came back around 1989 when they switched up the Patriot on the label from the dood with the musket that was definitely not smiling to the dood sitting at the table that was smiling…also, those gay radio commercials they did where he said, “I’m Jim Koch” and he sounded gayer than Landon Donovan.
Until then I’ll just keep doing deadlifts[/quote]
I heard the radio ads were just unbearable, luckily being in a different country I wasn’t subjected to them.
Koch’s a good shit though. Check out this excerpt from Sam Adam’s wiki page:
"2008 Hops Shortage
In early 2008, amidst a worldwide shortage of hops – a key ingredient in beer â?? Boston Beer Company agreed to share 20,000 pounds of its hops, at cost, with craft brewers throughout the United States. In random drawings, the company selected 108 craft brewers to receive the 20,000 pounds of hops it could spare. This prevented many craft brewers from having to reformulate recipes â?? or worse, going out of business.[15]"
This is a stand-up move that Miller, Coors etc wouldn’t do in a million years.

Also…your “beer fridge” is not a true beer fridge my friend…nothing else is allowed to be in the fridge, but beer…

Hey! Why don’t you just go do some deadlifts!!!
Truth is, I haven’t drank a lot of beer in the past few years. I have the occasional one if I travel and there is a worthy local micro. I keep a stock of beer (and wine/liquor) for guests and visitors mostly. It makes it all that much more enjoyable.
My office mate in grad school was a beer brewing fiend and I learned pretty much everything I know from him. He got an MS in Geology then promptly opened up a brew pub:
I highly recommend if you’re on I-25 going through that part of New Mexico you stop in for some fan-fucking-tastic beer.

I had my chops busted by my Great Russian Friend last year for the same reason when I showed him my beer fridge…I think I had some leftover lasagna in the fridge smooshed in with the beer and he was like, “Is not true beer fridge”.
Oh yeah, Jamie Koeppe I mean In the meantime I’ll just keep doing deadlifts.
This one showcases my beer glassware. I have 6 of each glass. They are:
- Pint
- Tulip
- Stange
- Weizen
- Flute
- Oversized Wine
- Pilsner
- Chalice
- Snifter
- Mug

Will do. Your gym’s famous! haha
Guiness for strength!
Dos Equis Special Lager after that.
When I’m home in TX I’ll drink a few Lone Stars.
Orion was great when I was in Japan.
Tuborg was good whn I’d go downrange.
Damn. For a patriot I sure dislike American beer.
I’m a dos equis man. nothing breaks the ice better than going to a party where it’s just screwdrivers and busch light with a dos equis in your hand and poppin’ off some of the world’s most interesting quotes.
I really really enjoy Stone Ruination IPA.
Guiness and Labatts are general go tos at bars when there isn’t much available.
Best beer I ever had was the rare Trappist sle, Wesvelerteren, sp. It was do much better it was ridiculous .
I enjoy Dogfish , magic hat , two hearts , and many others mentioned here.

Where did you have that? At the monastery cafe or at a beer bar?
The monks supposedly forbid resale but it pops up in odd places. There used to be a Japanese website where you could order a bottle for 1100Â¥ (roughly 10-11 bucks), delivered right to your house within two days. It has since shut down, but I ordered a few of them…
Dogfish has been one of those pleasant surprises in the beer world. Delaware isn’t really know as much of a destination for anything (except awesomely setting up corporations), but Dogfish is a diamond for sure.
For awhile I was collecting “Label Art” from various beers I drank (like I try to get shot glasses from every place I visit).
My favorite labels go to Flying Dog Brews (as well as some of my favorite beer altogether):
