This still makes me smile every time I see it. You could follow this cycle up with a cycle of “LeviaSven”.
I second this, I’d think you’d dig Leviathan or LeviaSven
@BrandonCrawford - This:
is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
You definitely win the internet today, probably this week, and maybe even this month. That’s genuine LOL stuff right there.
@aholding88 - re: the template itself, I had to look it up, and it’s definitely intriguing.
It’s funny that all of this comes up now, though, because just last night I was reviewing the BBS variations in Forever. I’m clearly back on the 5/3/1 train—and, truth be told, I’m wondering why I ever got off in the first place—but I’m super-high on these BBS sets lately. Anyway, LeviathanSven is definitely in the running for “what’s next.”
That said, I’m not even through Week 2 of this second leader, which means I’ve still got a long, long way to go, so I’m just keepin’ it on auto-pilot and letting my body do its thing!

Just an awesome morning, top to bottom!

Workout: Easy conditioning, 1845-1915 (30 minutes)
Walk - 30 minutes
Forgot to mention earlier: We had a +25-degree temperature swing overnight and it was pouring this morning, which is why throws were “throws”—really it’s just approximation of the medball work without actually releasing the ball.
Anyway, it’s many hours later, drizzling, and still about +20 over where we were when I was pushing the sled yesterday AM. Given that it’s nearly mid-December, I’ll take it!

If yesterday was awesome top-to-bottom, then today was… less awesome. The last 3 sets were solid, with 125 feeling (and probably looking) the best. The top set was a close second and felt, by far, better than any of the first three sets. It was still a bit harder than I would’ve liked, though.
To be fair, all of the assistance work was actually pretty good today—feels like I can push the weights up on a few of those, maybe? For what that’s worth, anyway…
Back in the mid-20s today—and snowing, too!—so I might need to be flexible about tomorrow’s sled work. Guess we’ll just have to see what happens over the next 24 hours or so!

EMOM - 15 minutes
Push press - 135 lbs - 5
Today blew up in my face, but I got something done anyway!
And despite the fact that there is no substitute for the sled, I have to actively remind myself: It is not magic.
In fact, there is no magic.
Except for consistent effort applied over time.
And walking—I’m convinced walking is, in fact, magic.
The 85 calf raises were super-solid, super-deliberate reps. Today’s tabata was better than Tuesday’s—I tried to actively throw the 'bell down from the top position. That trashed my forearms and grip, but in a good way. And the 10 additional reps on the EMOM caught up with me somewhere between Rounds 9 and 11, I think: My HR was moving higher and higher from start to finish, and I was feeling pumped and dead by the end.
Tomorrow’s gonna be another hectic day, and they’re saying more snow is on the way, but if I can get some sled work in tomorrow, I will.

Then again, maybe it’s just the Christmas lights—they definitely add something that’s just not there at 0430 on a summer morning.
I love Christmas lights. Especially when there is snow. ![]()

Weighted vest walk - 30 kg - 20 minutes
We had my son’s first basketball game of the season this morning—they dominated the other team, he got the start, and he was the high scorer for the day. I’m super-proud of him, but not just for that: He’s not the biggest, he’s not the fastest, but I swear he is the smartest: He knows just where to be—and when to be there—on both sides of the ball!
Got this in, but didn’t beat the snow: The driveway was wet as we pulled in, and was covered by the time I got back from the walk.
It is what it is… On to Week 3 squats tomorrow!
Hell yeah, that’s awesome!
Merry Christmas!

Moving slowly today: Two or three nights of poor sleep are starting to catch up with me. The presentation that’s causing me strife is tomorrow morning, though, so one way or the other, it’ll be over soon.
Squats were okay today. I felt my lower back spasm or something for a split second on the third rep of the top set, but I was able to recover. Not sure what that was about, but the remaining two reps were fine and all is well on the other side of it. In the end, that set was tough mainly due to fatigue.
Rest of it was okay, too, but I barely made it over 50 calories on the bike—once again, I think I was just full-body tired at that point, haha!
Here was the view out the weightroom window this morning:
We get our fair share of snow, but I haven’t seen this much this early in the winter in a long time.
