Another good day: 260 and 295 moved best. Straps on for the top set—managed to get them super-tight today, such that I could really feel the difference they were making—then crushed it. Been trying to pull touch-and-go lately, but I was maybe a touch bouncy there. Or uneven? I don’t remember, exactly, I just know that 260 and 295 felt the best.

Really happy to get 2 relatively easy sets of 10 pull-ups today: Body weight is coming down, strength is going up, maybe both?

Everything else was good today as well, and I feel great!

Exhausted, yes—I mean, it’s deadlift day, after all—but great ,too!

I was not so lucky today.

Made it through 60 calf raises before I had to pause, and I swear I could feel the instant my calves started to fill with blood—I was simultaneously amazed and disgusted in that moment.

The tabata absolutely destroyed me: I managed to get 10 reps in every round, but it was a fight from start to finish. (And there may have been more than a few ugly reps in there, too.)

Added a 25-pound plate to the sled push, and that made it even more awful—to the point that I stalled out in the no-man’s land about 2/3 of the way up the incline on every round from the 5th forward. I swear the steam pouring from my lungs and off my body was condensing and icing over, because it felt like the driveway got slicker and slicker with every round. I mean, it’s already after 12:00 noon here, and we’ve only just crossed the mid-20s Fahrenheit—it’s a very real possibility, I think.

It was still solid work, though: I wanted at least 8 rounds with the added weight, and I got 9 with just under 30 seconds to spare. That was no where near enough time to recover, so I didn’t even pretend I was going to start a 10th.

Given how I felt when I started today, though, we’re calling this one a win.

This evening’s schedule is compressed, so there’s a good chance today’s post-dinner walk will come after dinner tomorrow. As ever, we’ll just have to see how things play out…

Not in a rush, just that kind of a day. And now I’m not sure I can even count to 5 correctly, so I did an extra set, just in case I really didn’t count properly during the actual work.

The first set was the hardest, sets 5-8 were the best—but actually they were all pretty textbook, in the end.

Planning on a post-dinner walk this evening, as usual.

That’s a lot of work done in a short period of time! Think my workout took over an hour this morning and wasn’t squats….

This work ended up being fasted, though not by design. Don’t think that helped matters, as I was already dragging. There were a ton of plate changes, though, and that definitely doesn’t help with overall speed…

Anyway, happy with things overall. Forgot where I’ve been with BB row and did the first set too light—the two remaining sets at 175 were pretty solid, which made me question my “default” straight sets for assistance… Might be an opportunity to introduce some variation here.

Rest of it was good, on the whole. Oh, I got a decent pump this morning, too—it is bench day, after all!

@Friedrich - Right you are, my friend! I confess I burned myself out on walking the neighborhood when I tried Dan John’s Easy Strength for Fat Loss after my Super Squats run awhile back—such that I actively avoided walking, with or without the vest.

But for whatever reason, this time around I find myself enjoying them, and I try to really lean into the dark and the quiet in the neighborhood at that time of day in these winter months.

It’s a nice 30 minutes spent, indeed!

I really didn’t want to do this work, but I’ve got a packed schedule today, so it was do this now or risk missing it altogether.

And as much as I hate the work, I’d hate myself more if I’d miss it.

Calf raises were good, less painful than last week. The tabata remains utterly miserable, but today’s bad reps were better than last week’s, so that’s progress. And I once again wanted 8 rounds with the sled but managed 9, despite an outdoor temp in mid- to high teens.

At least I get to sit the rest of the day, haha!
