Main work in 30 minutes, assistance superset throughout.

The air was thick today, and breathing was hard.

Oh, and I was doing a few squats… So there’s that.

I owe myself some push assistance: I tried to count upright rows as a “push” movement, but that’s not really how it works.

Good day.

I thought it hit slightly different parts of the calves, so it’s good to do both methods? (the surge challenge has us do both movements iirc?)

Sounds right to me!

This workout brought to you by meatloaf.

But I still don’t mean this guy:

(Sorry, I don’t know why I find that to be funny…)

Crushed all of that—it was a good day!

Though I will say I was supposed to use 45 lbs for all of the standing DB press sets: I accidentally grabbed the 40s for the first set and after a rep or two—I kid you not—I said to myself, “Wow, this feels easy! I bet I could handle 5 more pounds.” Only when I was getting ready for the second set did I discover that, yes, in fact, I was supposed to do 5 more pounds. (Doh!) We’re gonna blame that on Monday… Even so, I could probably handle another “5 more pounds.”

And I made up for yesterday’s double “pull” assistance by doubling today’s “push” assistance. Everyone can breathe easily now: All is again right with the world.

This exactly happened to me Saturday! DB Overhead press and everything!:rofl: I literally had the exact same thought!

We’re just gonna go ahead and blame Monday for this, too.

Monday - 13 October 2025
Workout: Easy conditioning, 1940-2005 (25 minutes)

Walk - 25 minutes

Normally these walks have been after-dinner walks, but I guess I ate a lot at lunch or something, because I’ve not been hungry. We’ll see if this activity stimulates some hunger, but there’s a chance I’ll just do my pre-bed shake and call it a night.

Light weight or not, 50 deadlift reps is no joke! I am toast.

Crushed it, though. I totally channeled my inner-@PowPowPunishment to:

Rest of it was solid, even if exhausting.

And on top of all that, I somehow managed to get almost 25 full shuttle runs in before time expired.

It was definitely a good day!

That’s some good hard work there, great job man. Thinking about starting with the legs makes such a huge difference.

Low energy today—I ate reasonably yesterday and don’t feel particularly run down or anything, so maybe this is just those deadlifts talking back. Pretty happy with things overall: The sets at 130 and 135 were tougher than I would’ve liked—and 130 actually felt harder than 135—but they were clean reps (even if the last few were a little slow).

I’m hitting pause on God Sven is a Beast until this time next Thursday, as we’re headed on vacation to a horse ranch in a few hours.

(This is the first of the two trips I knew about when planning this run. The second is now about 90% likely—looks like it’ll be mid-November for that one, if it happens. Oh, and there’s a third trip on the horizon now, too—sometime in Q1 2026.)

Anyway, the ranch has what I’ll call a typical “hotel gym,” but we’ll be getting plenty of outdoor activity, so I’m not worried about sacrificing family time just to get in some lifting. (That said, if I can talk Mrs. SvenG into some time in there together, then…)

It’ll be a shorter trip than we typically do this time of year, so I’ll probably just mess around next Tuesday and Wednesday once we’re back, but my plan is to finish out the rest of Week 2 beginning with a post-dinner walk next Thursday evening.

So that’s it for now—see you all soon!
