@tlgains - Thanks, bro! 315 is close, but still so, SO far… Haha! Guess we’ll just have to see what I can bring to the last two workouts!
Super Squats
Monday - 01 January 2024
Workout: Active recovery, 1555-1625 (30 minutes)
Alpha Male - about 1410
Bike@120-140 bpm - 15 minutes
I might not have realized what last Friday’s 295x(15 + 7) took out of me, but I am VERY aware of what this morning’s 295x20 has done! Time to rest and eat, then rest and eat some more.
Love that little kneeling recovery at the end, brings back to many good memories of SS.
@simo74 - You have a very twisted sense of “good memories,” mate! I love it.
yer @wiseman83 keeps telling me I am a bit different. But when I hang out here it is more ‘same same but different’ LOL
If I ever did this as part of a workout, I would bold it, highlight it, and change the name of my training log to it. I would also have a T shirt made saying it, and a personalized license plate. You’re more humble than me, apparently.
Two more sessions! End it strong champ!
300 lbs let’s go!!!
@simo74 - Takes one to know one!
@antiquity - LOL!!! I confess I’ve been eyeing up the Super Squats t-shirts. Maybe I’ll even be able to upgrade from M to L once I’ve finished?
@tlgains - Thanks for that! It’s great to have you in my corner.

Super Squats

Alpha Male - about 1230
Bike@120-140 bpm - 15 minutes
Still have an exertion headache from this morning, and my internal body temperature keeps flaring every hour or so—I think I’m working hard to repair today’s damage.
Let’s look at that, BTW:
- Finally got 3x10 at 105 lbs on BTN press. The last two reps were real grinders, and the very last one hit 1.5 or maybe even 2 on the Simo scale, but I eventually locked it out.
- Not only did I not get 3x12 on bench at 190 lbs today, I could only get 9 initial reps, and then I actually failed on what should’ve been rep “12”. Took forever to reset—both physically and mentally—but even then the last rep was way harder than it should’ve been.
- The rows might’ve gotten a bit sloppy…
- BB curls are… BB curls.
- The squat fail might look mental on the video, but I assure you: There wasn’t a 15th in there this time.
- I did better with the SLDL reps at 230 lbs this time, but I think that’s only because I gave up too early last time.
Anyway, you know what’s next: ol’ SvenG is going to eat his face off between now and bedtime.
Speed still looked really good on rep 14, but you looked a little wobbly after. If you could have just paused there a little longer and re-grouped (easier to say than so) I deff think you have this.
Man those 20 rep squat sets are a hard piece of work. Great job!
@simo74 - Thank you! On the whole, they weren’t the ugliest reps, but they sure felt horrible, and I came down crooked on the left side in rep 12 or 13 and hit the pipe, which always throws me off. (I think that happened on my first attempt with 295 last week, and at pretty much the same point the in set—go figure!)
Anyway, I’m trying to get excited for the last workout tomorrow, so we’ll see what I’ve got. One way or the other, though, Super Squats is almost over—and THAT is exciting!
@Koestrizer - Thanks to you as well!

I finally caught up, and you are a goddamn maniac with how well you’ve been able to consistently add 10lbs per workout on Super Squats with limited missed sets. You continue to inspire my dude.
@T3hPwnisher - Thanks for that, my friend! Super Squats has definitely enhanced my ability to dig deep: I’ve been able to find “one more rep” far more often than I haven’t—and that’s like some kind of vicious upward spiral!
