Hey mate, I’ve been gone for a bit. How is stuff? Any recent PRs or notable events?
You’re a machine sir. And Happy Cake day matey!
Things are only up from here brother! I’m here for you and support you!
I can’t take creatine bc of my kidneys but vitamin D and fish oil definitely make a difference for me.
Bro… HAPPY BIRTHDAY SVEN!!!
Happy birthday!
@heretolog - Thanks for the support, bro! Glad to hear your trip was pretty good, and it’s nice to have you back.
@Koestrizer - Thanks for dropping by, my man! Things are going pretty well, all things considered: I hit a deadlift PR (285x21) earlier this week, and… Well, keep reading below!
@raven78 - Thanks, mate! My 43rd year was a great one, but I’m expecting my 44th to be even better. I hope yours is off to a killer start as well!
@davemccright - I totally agree: onward and upward! Thanks for your support, I absolutely appreciate it!
@anna_5588 - It’s easy for me to major in the minors sometimes. But I also lose sight of the little things, too. It’s nice to realize—even if by “accident,” or in this case, me being lazy!—that they make a difference!
@tlgains, @Bagsy - Thanks for the birthday wishes! The kids already surprised me with birthday donuts—some habits die hard, haha!
Poor creatinine clearance? I struggle a little here too
Sorry to hear about the recent events with your father Sven, glad things are seeming to be on the upswing. Happy birthday buddy

Workout: @heretolog’s Birthday Squat Challenge, 0815-0835 (20 minutes)
Squat - 195 - 45 (rep PR)
So I weighed myself for the first time in over a year: 190.8 when I first woke up, then at 190.3 shortly before this workout (with coffee and bathroom in between). I said the other day that 205 for the Volkswagen WOD had better be 10-15 lbs. heavier than me, and I got that just about spot on.
I chose to get on the scale because I didn’t want to squat anymore weight than necessary to meet @heretolog’s challenge. Here it is:
I turned 44 today, so that 45th rep was one to grow on.
Pretty pleased with the effort—it was 8 months ago to the day that 195x20 was a HUGE achievement, so to more than double that today was truly awesome!
Edit: That set was fasted—the birthday donuts come later!
Edit 2: Just for future reference—not that I’m ever going to do that again!—I did some high-knees, hip mobility, and a few DB squats to get my blood pumping beforehand, then 135x5, 185x3, 225x1, and 275x1 as warm-up before the work set.
Thanks for all of that, @boilerman! I appreciate your support.
Edit: I was glad to read your vacation was pretty good, too!
Happy cake day Sven
Thank you, @anna_5588! It’s already been a great day, and there’s still more to come.
Lunatic! I really need to lose some weight before I hit my forties! Hope you and your soon to be excruciatingly sore legs eat well throughout the day.
Those high rep PRs are beyond insane! Great job you crazy maniac!
Happy Birthday dude. I hope you’ve got your cheat meal planned.
That’s insane dude! You would never guess that you’re 44 by looking at you, you look early 30s to me! Just makes it all that much more impressive how often you crush PR’s and are still reaching uncharted Territory! Definitely a big inspiration for me!
It’s Christmas… in July!
That’s our traditional Christmas brunch, sans orange juice. Really just the potatoes and bread are cheat-y—though it is real bacon you’re seeing there!
Happy birthday!
Happy birthday!
