Becoming a Man

Only 25 myself, but I would tell myself “Make your own mistakes and have fun”

And eat more.

Focus on your training but remember it ain’t the be all and end all. What’s the point of working so hard for a good physique if you can’t use it every now and then

Oh and travel more, there’s a lot to see out there besides England!

If somethng is hard in life just give up

From the ripe old age of now 39 (how the hell did that happen!?)

  1. Do what you feel you should do not what someone tells you to do.
  2. Study what you love not what you think will make you money but that bores the tits off you!
  3. Shit happens it’s how you deal with it when it happens not the avoiding it that defines your character

Stick it in her pooper.

You’re not tied down yet, but someday you will be. Don’t think oh I can do that tomorrow, because tomorrow is promised to no one. Take life as it comes, but live it to its fullest. Travel, Learn, Fuck, eventually love.

I am only a year and a half or so from my 18th (I’m almost 20 here)

but I would have slapped myself upside the head and told me to start busting my ass
cause the work ethic better come sooner than later.

and I would have deleted my own World of Warcraft game :stuck_out_tongue:

“Drop the beers and start deadlifting every week…”
“You cant overtrain when you’re 18 so quit being lazy”

There are so many more thing that I would say to myself along with a big slap to the back of my own head…

I see your untamed afro, and I raise you my white man dreads (i’ve never attached a pic before so i hope it works right).

I would say control how much you drink, you’re going to get liver cirrhosis at 19 you idiot (perhaps a bit of a personalised message).

As much as people around you will embrace a binge drinking culture it pays to be sensible.

x2 for listening to parents and actually studying.

I’m growing my hair out now to get dreads. I want them a similar size as yours, but a bit thicker. How long was yours before you got them? Did you get them backcombed in?

Always take responsibility for your actions.

I’m 18 and I think the life lesson im still trying to take to heart is a year can change your life. Whether you dedicate a year to lifting and eating right as much as possible or even dedicating an extra effort to improving in your job… it can all bring back benefits a 100 fold.

That pic was the day before dreads. My friend backcombed them for me (otherwise a hairdresser will charge over a hundred for the man hours). I would’ve definitely gone for thicker, that was 42 dreads and maintenance took 3hrs every time i waxed them, and once they got thinner i had to start merging them.

If you’re failing a class in college, don’t be afraid to drop it.

I’ve turned 18 as of today and i’m off out tonight to celebrate!

I was wondering if there is anything you would say to your old self when you were this age if you could? Anything in life. What advice would you give?

Personally i think no. 1 goal has to be maximum sex at uni. As TC says… when your lying on your death bed, whats gonna be running through your mind more likely… sex, or the workout you missed that time. From similar threads i’d say alot of guys on here agree with this.[/quote]

Congratulations man, go wild for a little while, then reign it in and buckle down.

Listen to what other people say and the advice they give, but remember it’s their opinion and it’s not necessarily for you (that includes what I’m writing here).

I wouldn’t actually tell my 18 year old self anything, everything I’ve gone through, good and bad has shaped who I am today. Actually, no, the one thing I’d tell myself is in 5 years time, in that split second you have to make the decision to stay or go, stay, she needs you. If you don’t it’ll haunt you for the rest of your life.

Don’t be afraid to take chances. And now you’re 18, next time there’s a T-Nation meet up in the UK somewhere, make sure you know about it and get an invite
