I think i finally decided what i want to do, and that is become a fighter pilot. Just got a few questions though for people in the military:

1.what do fighter pilots do during wartime when they’re not assigned to bomb targets or whatever, and what do they do when there’s no war going on??
2.How tough is it to become a fighter pilot? I’m not planning on joining up anytime soon maybe in a couple years after im done my degree but like yeah how do i know if i stand a chance at being selected?
3.how do i stay ahead of the competition, what can i do now to prepare and beat the comp. when the time comes?
5. is it true that they put you out in the wilderness and at sea on your own for a week and expect you to survive?
4. do fighter pilots get a lot of bitches?
1. Play golf/party/train. Most of them spend the VAST majority of their time training (in a jet)/filling out reports/participating in mission planning.

 2. It is very, very tough to be selected to become a fighter pilot. In addition to having a perfect bill of health, you will need to consistently score very highly on your PFTs. Keep in mind that you’ll be competing for slots with those currently in the military, in ROTC, or in military academies. The whole “I think I’ll dick around for a couple years until I graduate and then sign up” thing isn’t going to work, I can promise you that. Why would they open up a slot for someone like that when they have a large pool of people who have been working hard for years to get to that point? If you’re serious, you need to get in a ROTC program right now. If your GPA is on the lower side, you’d better being majoring in something difficult, like electrical or mechanical engineering.

 3. To “beat the competition”, you need to demonstrate that you have leadership abilities in addition to not being a fuck up. Every blunder you make will illicit loss of respect from those under your command. This doesn’t mean that you won’t screw up, but you have to know how to recover. Entire courses and books have been written on military leadership. Remember that while your position may be appointed, respect is earned. If you pull any sort of backstabbing, have a “look at me!” attitude, or otherwise demonstrate that you aren’t part of the team, you’ll get dropped.

 4. Yes, fighter pilots get teh bitchez.

 5. Yes, you do have to go through plenty of wilderness survival training. Their goal isn’t to turn you into some sort of Navy SEAL thought. This kind of stuff is the least of your worries. Your chances of being dropped for unforeseen medical reasons is much higher. Also, your body dimensions have to be within certain parameters that are individual to each aircraft. The reason for this is so that if you ever have to eject, the force from the ejection doesn’t rip your head off/otherwise mutilate you.

 6. Learn to count. Counting in sequence is a skill that all fighter pilots MUST possess.

Thanks for the rational and brutally honest post. Just one question though should I apply right away for ROTP or wait for a year, because i’m currently in my second year of my assc. after that im doing a bachelors program that is a year to year and ahalf long, which is why i asked whether it was ok to apply after i was done the degree. Plus, isn’t getting a degree technically the first step towards getting your application processed, especially if you can get selected through DEO?? Also, regarding ROTP, how exactly does it work if i’m already in college, do i get paid for my education or something. Is it better to go through ROTP than DEO in your opinion. Thanks!

lol, I don’t need luck bitch, luck needs me. You on the other hand probably needed all the luck he could get just to join the army as a grunt since you were most likely too fuckin stupid to get a real job, like most people who join the army right out of high school are.
He’s stupid, but the 4th most important thing to you about deciding to be a fighter pilot is whether you’ll get snatch.

Or was it 5th? I forget

Na hes just a skinny fat ginger that goes to WWE conventions to meet his heroes. Youd be mad at the world too

Would everyone please just stop giving this fucking half-wit any advice? Please? For the sake of us veterans…

If he really wants to do it, he’ll figure it out, just like the rest of us did.

Like…oh, I don’t know…maybe go see a fucking recruiter, or something?

Otherwise, fuck him. Hurling insults at active duty service members shouldn’t get him any favors around here.

Your posts have the exact same sense of entitlement as his do.

Not everyone thinks that military people are gods gift to the USA brah

Well, everyone in the US should though, because we are, brah

I ain’t your brah, brah.

Entitlement? Really? I don’t know if you’re military or not, but civilian wanna-be’s don’t get to insult military folks for their branch of service choices or MOS’s.

You want to call it entitlement, that’s fine. I’m entitled cos I earned it. He hasn’t.

god i love Bonez. Never know when he’s gonna strike, and on who’s side, either.

Well, Gods gifts come in many shape and forms, f.e. if He did not bless us with dung, how would we fertilize the fields?

That does not necessarily call for mindless adoration of manure though.

You earned what? What are you entitled to, officer?

Im not military. I think the military is great, our country would be nothing without it. That doesnt mean civilians cant form opinions or talk shit about the military. Youre regular people. Not fucking buzz lightyear. Dont get butt hurt when a pimply ginger that loves german suplexes makes fun of people who you can relate to, makes you sound kinda fruity. Dont ask dont tell amirite?? amirite guyz??

lol.

i have my degree, i have my commission, and i have my platoon. thanks for trying though.

i find it funny when people diss on the guys that do grunt work, when they themselves could never have the balls enough to do the door-kicking and the running and gunning those guys do.

good luck with becoming a pilot. in the mean time, feel free to stand at attention and call me ‘sir’

you’re always rite bonez.

now get over here and scratch my back the way i like it

I agree with Bonez on this as a former vet we are not entitled to anything, do not forget that WE volunteered we were not forced. Yeah but OP is douche officer in the waiting as a former enlisted I used to pray on them MFers, made my day pleasureable, Holy Mac knows what I mean. Good thing is he wont make it as a pilot so do not worry my friend.
As a side note I was in the process to become Pilot in the Army but backed out due to putting the family first. Its not hard if you do the right things and get approval from 20 year veterans pilots, but getting that takes years and an excellent rep.

Svaki jedan od vas je scheiÃ?e!

The point was never made that because someone is a vet, you need to bow down and pay homage. The nerve was struck when the OP basically called anyone who enlisted as a grunt stupid. This is no different than talking out your ass on any other subject you know little about.

Let him join he wont last, he will get the shit duties as an officer if he even makes it that far. Plus if he does I can still wipe my dick on his mike boom or ear cuffs. While watching his training officer scold him like a little bitch.

The Navy doesn’t fly F-15’s, so either your boss is a poser or you got your info wrong.
