Beast Mode - The Rising Tide

“Beast Mode”
The evolution
#eryfuckingday

To grow a foundation, one sound in mind and body.
The cornerstone of which will the soul focus is the daily conditioning of legs and core.
This is where i put my dreams on the table and work every waking moment until they unravel before my footsteps or i fucking die trying.
lets do this,
“The Beast That Is”
Steven Tandoi
Amature MMA record 3-0
6’ walking weight about 200-205
185 pound fighting weight.

this is the log,
this is the accountability,
shut up and work,
train and train.

Into the cage i go without fear or doubt for i fear only the challenges i put forth on myself. let them come for me, i hope they are prepared,

Reaumate,= I am the rising tide, this force is relentless, you will find nothing easy here.

If you put your money where your mouth is I’ll follow along

This week is my active recovery week as i fought and won by TKO in the third round last week.

Find fights on facebook page, Rip Steven Tandoi ill get them up here when i get more technically savy.

Today
630-730 am work out.

Baseline worklout. every mourning i start my day at 530 to get to the gym by 630 a fucking commute but to me it is just another challenge to each day and i make the most of it, listining to pod casts, fighter interviews. and book tapes. all of these are alpha male in line or nutritional information. get better every day mother fucker.

so the foundation = A minimum requirement that i hold myself to each and every morning gym session. if i cannot raise my foundational bar then i will not be able to get up to the calliper of a pro athlete. the first testr of every day is to run, squat and do one more one arm push up each day.

each day this week i will do at minimum
2 mile run at 10 minute mie holding 3 pound weights in each hand.
56 one handed push up per hand
1 leg excrsise complex, (today was goblet squats.)

I made up this trainning philosophy 3 weeks before my last fight and i felt the strength in my legs give me the ability to do things i didnt know i could.
my stance has changed due to the extra confidence supported by these sturdy muscles. they are more responsive and more willing to take on all the challenges i throw thier way.

holding weights while running is very similar to an uppercut and often very close to a gaurd when they are exagerated upwards due to fatigue, anyhow in just 3 weeks of this i have noticed a serious development of the dorsal deltoid. they are rock solid and increase in power and stamina is noticable.
note, running is just good, lets make it harder.

one armed push ups, lets not get carried away, i currentlly suck at these. i added them monday due to a feeling i had durring the last fight. i wanted more core streangth. well admittadely due to my crazy schedule of triple days i fucking let my core slide a bit so that i wouldnt over train it hoping that id be able to abuse the rest of my body as long as the core was being releaved.

the one armed push up with out kipping or torqing the body but actually keeping spine aligned and only doing a quarter press at the moment is causing a barrell roll muscle contraction from toe to hand that activates so many of the core elements of a martial artist that i decided it is a necissary staple to every single day.

If you want to get better at something you do it every day.
if your life depended on increasing your squat by 100 pounds in 1 year well youd probly do it every day.

which brings me to the last movement in myt every mourning foundational work out to manifesting my dreams of a prof fighting debut.

Squat complex. The biggest muscles in the body, they convert all energy from the floor to all other athletic movements. As such i believe there is a minumum amount of abuse they need to recieve every fucking day to get the goddamn growth they deserve.

next week i start the real shit, techique training and 3 a days, while working construction.

Challenge yourself every day, regardless of your dreams and or goals, believe in yourself. invest in your growth; spiritually, mentally and physically.

A alpha male is someone who is not complacent but seeks to challenge himself each day for he enjoys that feeling of overcoming the odds, exceeding expectations and the fresh breath of cool air that comes with crossing off life long dreams.

Q: are you ever nervous or afraid before a fight?
A: no, it is hard to be afraid of a stranger, he doesn’t know how to test me. I have known my body my entire life and have continuously tried to find my own breaking points. I have never found them. So no I am not afraid of someone finding my breaking point in 3 rounds if I have yet to discover it in 28 years.
I cherish the idea, I live for that moment, I await the moment someone breaks me. Because only then will I truly be able to grow as a fighter and as a man.

Testing a video upload chest circuit training.

This weekend my sub pump for my septic blew.
Soot happens it is a giant concrete box, the pump blew, my head exploded and I was just blessed it was a rest day :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Sunday did my hot yoga like a beast.
Definitely won at yoga, soccer moms left crying and my weekend ended with tri-tip dinner that came out choice AF.

AM WORK OUT
2 mile rum- 3 pound weights per hand.
56 - one armed push ups.
And lastly I did mobility leg work because gaining 20 pounds in 1 week from fight day really blew out my flexibility.
So I did 3 sets of 6 what ever this movement is called.

Moving left to right tears up the hips.
Great for double leg takedowns.
Today I start triple day training let’s get this shit going!!

That’s Cossack squat

Ever tried Jefferson/straddle deadlifts?

Dante!!
Thanks brother that’s an awesome name for the squat. It was my first time attempting that with weight.
The Jefferson squat/deadlift looks good. I assume it is to for targeting the groin.
I’m trying not to hit too many Dead’s as they tend to tear up the core and CNS system more than squats.
But I think that looks like a good hybrid squat deadlift that might fit in. Thanks brother.

Today was a shit show.
I hit my baseline.
2 mile run - 3 pound weights each hand (increased speed to 1-9 min mile and 1-8 min mile)
56 one arm push ups per hand. Sets of 8.
Then did quad extensions on the machine.
5 sets of fast twitch quads intensity weight 5-8 reps.
Threw in L sits balancing on 2 kettle bells.
3 sets of 6. I will post a video as this is a favorite of mine that I have been slacking on lately.

Followed by 8 hours of construction.

4-630pm WORKOUT
30 minutes of jump rope nothing crazy just coming off of a metatarsals injury and it is my first day back so I just went for volume/control.
Followed by 60 minute stretch of legs.
(I do a lot of stretching and will put up pic/vid of my favorites)
My legs are always very tight as Iift legs every day and I believe it truly helps my recovery and pro-actively combats injury. I’ve been injury free more since increased stretching.

========
Last 30 minutes+
7 sets of 2 high intensity explosive close grip bench press.
225 pounds

640-740
2 pound boxing gloves.
My dad held mitts and we worked tempo timing and speed. We are a great team.

I think it goes without saying but tomorrow will be a much lighter day with some plyometrics and technique work :oncoming_fist:t3::flexed_biceps:t3::smiling_face_with_horns:

No problem man

Jeffersons hit your whole legs and they are a tremendous core exercise. Also the “fighting stance” your foot are positioned in makes it quite sports specific

It’s surprisingly light on your CNS, I’ve done them every day before

The video I looked at was open more and doing it from southpaw stance so I didn’t put two and two togeather till you pointed it out.
Now I like it and realize how it could be utilized to gain explosiveness from a stance.
Hell yeah brother

On Sunday I got my ass kicked in hot yoga, realized I need to step my balance work and flexibility to utilize my strength in a fight.

Core and stability is after all how one generates power from the ground to the upper body.

STATE OF MIND

Today was rough
I woke up but my body was telling me to rest.
The run was trying to break me yet half way through the second mile I increased the speed and tore it the fuck up.
That moment on I turned my day into one of the better training days I’ve had.

The focus was awareness.
Muscular control and balance.

Finally my brother/ “friend” moved in to town and will be my new sparing partner at 205 pounds.
Best news I could get for my fighting career.

You are only as good as those who push you.
Let’s get this next level going.

The tide is rising
Reaumate-
The beast from within, the willpower of an Italian,
And the make up of a spirit warrior.

mentally yesterday was like having zombies take over my brain… the super human freak zombies but with Down syndrome like the days of old. So yeah that was a work out day that took me through hell.

Today was the polar opposite.
mind was firing, ready to fuck up some weights. I got on the treadmill and… my legs felt Like they where both prosthetics I’d never used and where made for a 500 pound gorilla.
My muscles where jello so…

=============
AM WORK OUT

2 mile run with 3 pounds in each hand (barely)
56 one armed push ups each hand. (Somehow)
3x5 Jefferson squats (thanks to Danteism)

PM-
Tougher another fighter on fighting strategy, gas tank saving and knowing when you are not in a dangerous position on the mat. It was like a martial arts philosophy lesson for fight strategy fucking awesome shit.

Then another amateur fighter/brother of mine who is fighting for the amature 205 Californias #1 belt in June came and did mits with me and then we sparred 3-3 minute rounds.
I did all this with 2 pound gloves on yet even with my cloves weighing double his I still did fucking great. Soooooo fuck yes that nap after work did me right.

I JUST WANT TO FUCK THE WORLD
(How I feel after a good day with less than 70% of my full strength starting the day)

Anyhow I need to adjust form and get a feel for these but they definitely didn’t kill my cns. In fact they where amaizing on quads and inner thighs !!

Put your rear (in this video left) leg in a more sumo like position and get the knee of your front (right) leg over your ankle so that your shin is perpendicular to the ground. Your rear shin should also be in this position, it allows for a lot of power output and you’ll be able to get into a lower position to activate your legs even better.

Edit.
Here’s Eric Bugenhagen, the Jefferson God, showing how it’s done
(At 5:12)

For the record, he has a 800 pound Jefferson deadlift

Holy shit he is explosive off the floor too.
Crazy how quick he puts tension on the bar.
His loading looks like it could kill peopl

It is easier for me to do triple days then it is to log sometimes but excuses aren’t what we are made of here.

Monday I set 3, body weight personal records fucking around after catch wrestling practice.

The first was going from a back bridge head stand and jumping hard as I bridged to headstand and then landing in a normal forward wrestlers kneck bridge. (Use your imagination)

Second
4 pistol squats total stringed togeather jumping out of one pistol squat into the air, landing 5’ directly left of the jump landing with the opposite leg doing full pistol squat into a jump and landing 5’ the other direction directly into another pistol squat. One foot on the ground, no stoping continuose for a total of 4 alternating pistol squat/jumps.

Bear with me.
I followed that up with jumping forwards 5’ into a handstand, handstand jumping a seam on the mat into a 5’ handstand walk. Continuous athletic movement.

Tuesday was 3 work outs that where only stretching out all the tightness accrued from the PRs. Minus the back bridge one arm push up I’m trying to work on.

Today!!

WEIGHTS
130 one arm pull down on lat cable pull down machine. Knees not under the pads. No help given. This was a strict attempt to one day hit a one arm pull up. This also was a 25 pound PR.

I’ll try to video this shit so less explaining and more color will shine through on this training blog.

The beast is coming, did you bring your coat

In order to soar past our limits one must never quit, injuries will plague all those seeking the stars. To work through pain, aches and for the last few days a twisted spine we must put every effort to excel in new ways. Champions will never stop training, an injury is a new challenge. How much can I do without agrivating this back. New experience, different planning and probably some work outs ou never do. These variations from your determination to turn a problem, to a challenge to a victory will make you great, mind, body, and soul.

Yesterday.
1 hour 15 minute rune holding 3 pound weight each hand.

Today.
440 air squats in 25 minutes by 730 am.

6 weeks till fight night
