BB'ing and Sarcoplasmic Hypertrophy

I’m not if this has been mentioned, but there was a terrific post by Jim Wendler in the 5/3/1 thread a while back. In response to someone questioning the value of high-rep sets, he posted Bill Kazmaier’s routine from the time he won WSM. It consisted mostly of sets of 10. Draw your own conclusions.

Bump.

Why are people avoiding “sarcoplasmic hypertrophy”? How would they even know they are avoiding it?[/quote]

Well, sarcoplasmic hypertrophy has been in my neighborhood recently. It’s definitely not what people think. It knocks on your door, and if you answer, it never shuts up.

If you happen to convert to pure sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, then people tend to avoid you, because you’re just a big bag of sarcoplasmic hypertrophy knocking on people’s doors talking about how sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is the key and how it changed your life and would you like to convert to pure sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.

I just act like I’m not home.

Isn’t sarcoplasim the stuff that ghosts are made out of?

Actually, this is what Ghostbusters III will be about in 2012 (mark your calendars). Instead of that StayPuft marshmallow guy, 3 huge sarcoplasmic filled bodybuilders will go into classic roid rage and destroy the Empire State building…BUT THEIR DEAD!!!

Scared yet?

Can’t be true. They’ve apparently uncovered proof that ghosts exist.

Oh.My.God…

I was walking out to my car tonight and a hypertrophic sarcoplasm came up behind me and tried to change my Type II fibers! It was so creepy-- I could feel my non-contractile proteins and semifluid plasmas between my muscle fibers increasing!

Luckily, I was able to fend it off with some heavy garlic buds and low rep fish oil.

Not scared.

They’re made out of sarcoplasim, they’re weak, and therefore can’t destroy the empire state building.

Q.E.D.

But if they were made out of low rep hypertrophy then I’m shitting my pants.

I use a stake made out of functional exercises.

I believe thats ectoplasm. Ghosts are SUPER-functional because of that…their relative strength is…well…INFINITE.

I think another point that should be brought up is how different people respond to rep ranges as far as neural adaptations and different types of hypertrophy. I have no doubt that I respond to sets of about 10 reps like most people respond to sets of 3 or less (for upper body exercises). I have almost zero success with low, low reps in lifts like the bench and weighted pull-ups. I assume this is because of my fiber make up, could you maybe enlighten me as to why this is or how I can use it to my benefit Professor X?

I really need to make a totally unfunctional comment on that one: LOL!
I can’t stop the tears, I’ve been laughing so hard for…like…20mins.

I would love to see an article something like “The best posts in 2009”, this would be top.
