I just read the Dan Johns article on the slosh pipe. Sounds like a cool piece of equipment. Now I want one.
OG, do you use a 4 or 6 inch pipe?? 5 gallons of water weighs around 40 lbs so did you use 4.5 gallons?? And thanks for the idea.

ECO- I have a 4 inch and a 3 inch…I dont think I could handle a 6 inch .
To fill mine I brought the bathroom scale outside( big hit with Mrs Goat…not) and used a hose to get to roughly 38lbs…the key is to get the pipe about 3/4 full…any more than that and you lose the “slosh” effect, much less than that and it doesn’t generate enough force to make you work.
Enjoy!!
Neat stuff goin’ on here! As for conditioning ideas, I follow you brother!
Thanks OG and Bunny.
Got up at 4:30 am to get my son to a lacrosse tournament so didn’t feel like lifting today.
4/24
1.hang clean 135x3,155x3,185x3,205xx3,225x1,245x0,1 Then push-press with 245
2a.deads 365x3,405x3
2b.MP 145x3,165x3,185x10
Thats all. I had to push myself to do this.
But you went ahead and lifted. Good man. Nice hang cleans and 185 x 10 on the mps is outstanding. Hang cleans and dl on the same day must take a toll.
Had a big article in the local paper the other day about lacrosse being the fastest growing high school sport in Alabama. Who’d a thunk it?
Good work, Steve, 245 is a big hang clean and push press. LaCrosse sounds like a ton o fun. Wasn’t it invented by native americans to help them prepare for war? I can see why boys would really like it.
Harry, I’m not used to the 4:30 am start. The lacrosse tournament we played in on Saturday is scheduled to have Alabama and Texas teams come up to play next year. Just take it easy on us northerners OK.
Jack, 245 is the most I’ve ever cleaned and pressed. I’d like to get 275 off the floor and over my head someday. Lacrosse was invented by Native Americans but I’m not sure if they played for fun or war prep.
I played two on one lacrosse yesterday against my boys. The rule was they had to make two passes before they could shoot to give me a fighting chance. The leg muscles and obliques feel it today.
A 245 clean is damn big, Steve.
How did the lacrosse go for your son? were you guys at UMASS for the Garber tournament?

The tournament was at UMASS and I believe that was the name of it. We won one and lost three. But the kids had a good time. Its my sons first year playing and hes still unsure of what to do and where to be a lot of times during the game. So yesterday I picked up a lacrosse stick and we played in the yard. I’m trying to keep it fun while giving advice. The bonus is I get a killer workout from all the running and I’m keeping the advil and glucose/chondroitin companies in business.

2a.BB row 225 5x5
2b.MP 135x10,155x10,175x10,155x10,135x10
conditioning:
I wanted to get outside but forgot I had an appointment with retirement money guy after work. My plan of winning powerball as a retirement plan hasn’t happened so I’m making a backup plan.

Colin, I’ve seen the size of you and know it would take a lot more than 245 to take your arm off.
Your doing a lot of mps and hang cleans. Just a phase or you got something in mind? How much of a dip you getting on the hang cleans?

I couldn’t do cleans of any kind for a couple months because I hurt my neck (doing cleans). Necks better now so I’m going a little overboard. I start above the knee, dip the bar down below the knee then pull real hard. Don’t know if I’m doing it correctly but it feels good.
Nice work, Steve. My powerball plans has been unfulfilled as well.
Cleans are looking awesome. I am going to ATTEMPT some, tomorrow, after squats. Not sure the back will like it, but am going to try.

Thanks Skip. Good luck with the cleans (and powerball). I’m finding hang cleans easier to do then a full clean and I can pull more with the hang clean.
Damn, we must all have the same shitty financial planner. Powerball has been my primary retirement plan for years.
