I am an adult and contributing member of society. I do/have not played Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft, or anything like this but read historical novels. I stumbled on to this video and somehow getting suited up in armor, grabbing a sword, ax, or mace, and joining a somewhat controlled gang fight seems like a damned good idea. Bashing enemies over the head with even a dull ax and fighting until one man stands all of the sudden seems like the best way to spend free time…who’s with me!?!
Did my brain just shit itself or does this look like a good damned time?
There’s a guy on another forum I visit who is into this. He says it’s about as hardcore as you can get without chopping off limbs, and great for physical conditioning.
I honestly believe man has an inate need to maim and kill shit. It’s in our nature. This is why we have, over he eons, embraced the various forms of gladiators. Whether it be in the form of actual killing or fight sports in genreal. This is why I also feel Zombie stuff is so popular. You get to kill shit and skirt the moral issue of killing, because they are already dead right? lol.
Fake swords and shit would be pretty cool but not as cool as “force on force” tactical training. Real guns shooting simunition. You can set up scenarios that will make you shit your pants. Plus getting shot with that stuff hurts like fuck sometimes.

I’m with you 100%. One of the historical novel I read focused on the Vikings. In the book it explained the Vikings’ place in the world. It essentially said that we are living to entertain the gods with heroic deeds and to prepare for the great battle Ragnorok. Also, the afterlife reward for a good warrior, Valhalla, is a place where you fight all day and eat, drink and fuck all night. There was(according to the book) not so much a moral code, just basic good neighborly behavior, and to live well, be honorable (for the most part) fight hard, and do your best to die gloriously. That sounds pretty good to me, and frankly beats the hell out of 10 commandments, 7 deadly sins, et al.
