Seeing as that is damn close to my starting salary out of college, stupidity doesn’t even begin to describe it…
No one is suggesting , saying that is the case makes it easy for you to argue your point. Each city should have a scale considering housing , food and other factors it takes to live and the labor market should pay accordingly

At one point in your post you say no one is suggesting that, then you go on to suggest just that…
Make up your mind.

Or, we could just provide a relocation assistance program so people could actually move to places they could actually afford, with jobs they can actually get.
My suggestion is ridiculous, but much less so than yours.

No the jobs that pay enough would be enough incentive to relocate . Your whole assertion is redickulus:)but it is hard to be a wise ass when you are not Redickulus ![]()

if it does then you do not understand me , which is very probable because I have never stated Walmart was evil (in this thread
I have even stated if Walmart were not to exploit these workers , some one else would

the jobs that pay enough would be enough incentive to relocate. Just swap out “relocate” for “find a new job”. Problem solved…

That’s a lie. As already pointed out, the idea that all that is available is minimum wage is wrong, and that mindset is part of the problem.
Beyond that though, it is a livable wage. It’s not a luxury wage. There will be some struggle at times. But two parents, both on minimum wage, can put food on the table. Like I said, it wont be luxurious. But, the things that are truly important (roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in your stomach) are attainable.

Where was it pointed out ? It is fact the wages out there are beat down by employers like Walmart starting from the bottom up

Minimum wage is still more than welfare. And still more than, um, not working at all and not getting welfare.

well lets look at the situation:
They are paid market wages, which means they are paid what they are worth given the skills they have, the value they bring.
These market wages aren’t “living wage” Well why aren’t they? Because the cost of living is too high.
Okay, so here is the rub:
Why do people shop at Wal-Mart? Because they sell cheap shit, Wal-Mart decreases consumer’s cost of living.
If Wal-Mart was forced to increase its expenses (wages for employees) what is going to happen? They would have to lower costs or raise prices. Wal-Mart is a success because of volume at the margin, it already strong arms for the lowest suppler costs possible. So it looks like prices are going up.
What happens when prices go up? The cost of living is higher.
What does that mean? The workers need another raise.
And the cycle starts all over again, and no one is in any better shape than they were before.
Stopped reading after this post. If this doesnt make sense, even to a 10 year old, then arguing further is pointless.

I am sorry this is big BULL SHIT . You can not even afford the Insurance you get with welfare if you spent all your minimum wage on Ins.
$8500 a year for single try a family.

Just as an employer can act as though they are completely fair and end up being a real dick

…
and if they’re being as much of a dick as you make out, generally speaking, their employees will go seek greener pastures, and the company will go under.
Because of a large supply of labor and a small supply of comparable jobs , they can get away with wasting your time and money
There are fewer people looking for work than you may think. We advertise all the time for labor and one particular man labor job pays $10 - $12 per hour. And get very few takers. When the candidates we do get find out waht we’re paying for that particular job they usually walk away claiming that they can make more on unemployment, or about the same.
