Is the reason why you all think Mark Hamill should play the Joker any deeper than him doing the voice on the cartoon? Cause It’d be asinine to say someone’s not a true fan cause they didn’t watch a children’s cartoon.
Are you seriously worried that someone might think that you’re not a true fan of Batman? Aren’t arguments like this supposed to be conducted at comic conventions?
Also, since when are cartoons just for kids? Batman isn’t exactly on the same level as Spongebob Squarepants.
Shit, Rocko’s Modern Life was cancelled because it was too adult like. They had a restaurant called Chokey Chicken, which was later changed to Chucky Chicken. Rocko, Heffer and Philbert were once playing a game where a monkey was sitting in the middle of the table on a stand and they all had paddles…They were playing spank the monkey. There was also a scene where Heffer got a suck job from a milk machine. The farmer thought he was a cow, he’s a steer, and hooked up the milk milk sucking machine to him.
Just watch this to see what I’m talking about.

Dude, I loved that show in college. I had one friend who would start laughing at simple mention of the word “heifer”.

Spongebob is one of the few things my kids watch that I enjoy. Spongebob Rulz!
Speaking of cartoons, I still think the second season of “Justice League” is worth buying. “Avatar-The last Air Bender” is also worthy of paying attention to. These aren’t basic story lines. Your kids will probably like them as well.

This is what Batman Begins could have been…
Before Christopher Nolan took over, director Darren Aronofsky was attached to make a Batman movie based on the graphic novel “Batman: Year One” and have the author Frank Miller write the screenplay. By 2003 there was a first draft screenplay with story boards, which are properties of AOL Time Warner. Warner’s decision for not producing the film is unknown, but based on the details that have since leaked out, it would probably have to do with the screenplay, which strayed a considerable amount from the source material, making Alfred an African-American mechanic named “Big Al,” the Batmobile being a souped-up Lincoln Towncar, and Bruce Wayne being homeless, among other things. This is all detailed in David Hughes’ book “Tales from Development Hell.”
Before you say ‘yikes’, you should track down the script.
I read it a few years ago when Aronofsky was attached and thought it was brilliant.
It was a drastic and severe re-imagining of the Batman myth. Bruce Wayne had been orphaned, but didn’t know who he was. He lived and worked with Al, who owned a junkyard (the moment when you realize “Al” is “Alfred” was great), and had no money to build all those wonderful toys.
The script was a LOT closer to Year One than BB, but also stole a bunch of lines from Dark Knight, most notably, “There are seven working defenses from this position. Three disarm with minimal contact. Three kill. One hurts.”
Overall, it was a great script. It would have been a genius movie.
It also would have made fourteen dollars, scared the living shit out of everyone, and killed off the Batman franchise for 20 years.

HAHAHAHAHA! I’ll try and find that script and read it. My “yikes” was for the reason you described. It may have been cool, but Begins was great.
Well its official…Heath Ledger is the Joker. I hope this guy pulls it off and doesnt ruin the movie.

That should demonstrate just how pussified we have become. Batman was standard and acceptable fare for kids for something like 70 years. I know I watched The Animated Series when I was a kid. Now it’s considered inappropriate?
I tell you, if Ren and Stimpy was put on Nickelodeon today, there would be parents marching in the streets. But I watched it growing up, and I turned out fine. Now you have kids watching fucking Lazy Town, and they’re more fucked up than ever. Personally, I think it’s because they’re thrust from that sanitized kid’s media directly into the hedonistic bombast of MTV and aren’t able to make the transition smoothly.

I have seen a few Justice Leagues. They are pretty good. I think I mieesed a bunch and I can’t find them on TV now. I hope they are doing a new season.

OMG, whenever that retarded sponge comes on I want to stab myself in the head.
I’d sooner watch Peep on TLC at 7 AM. At least those characters THINK. Except for Duck. He’s just an idiot know-it-all.
Okay! Way too much time watching childrens’ programming!
Batman: Ashton Kutcher is a ridiculous choice. So is that Dancy guy.
Crispin Glover would ROCK as Joker. He’s creepy. Heath Ledger might be able to pull it off. I can see it. Just don’t watch 10 Things I Hate About You or Brokeback Mountain first – might ruin it right there!
I cant stand Heath Ledger. He’ll be as exciting to watch as mold growing on bread.
He even looks Brokeback in the pic. Cocky wank.
That’s assuming the casting directors have no clue what they are doing. I personally haven’t seen him act in anything that I can remember. I’m not going to assume he can’t act well just because he was in a movie about gay guys. Will Smith’s very first movie role was as a gay guy. People just don’t remember it.

The last episode was to have aired back in May. There isn’t supposed to be anymore.

Agreed
He was good in The Patriot. He was also OK in Lords of Dogtown. Jake Gyllenhaal was good in Jarhead.
It’s funny when people can’t differentiate between movies and reality. Sure Brokeback blew / sucked (and probably swallowed). But it was one (say it with me now) A MOVIE.

If their DVD sales impress, they’ll be back like Family Guy.

The thing with cartoons is that from a storyline perspective, they pretty much ARE adult oriented. Its only the visuals that are geared towards the kiddies.
Christ, even Spongebob has some far out storyline/dialogues that only an adult would get. “IIII’mmmm ready. IIII’mmmm ready.” (sorry).
We seriously need to bring back the old cartoons like Rocko, Ren, etc. At least then adults can sit and watch and have a laugh too (as a 5 year old won’t understand what spanking a monkey implies anyway).
I mean take Transformers the movie. Unicron at one stage says “You’re bargaining posture is highly dubious; but very well”. What kid will understand that?
Cartoons are great. Batman: The animates series, Batman Beyond, Justice League.
The new Batman cartoon “The Batman” is pretty cool. The one with a younger looking Wayne and where Joker looks like he has dreads. Very cool styling.

I certainly hope so. I love Justice League. I’ll have to go to amazon to do my part.
What do you guys think of Teen Titans? The anime twist they give the whole thing is wonderful.
Over here, nickleodeon shows Rocko & Ren and Stimpy at about 9pm. Does anyone remember The Tick?
