Bartl vs. Sayjin: A Fat Loss Challenge

ladies, get ready, I’m sleeping butt nekkid![/quote]

This may be a really logical question/comment…but couldn’t you have slept in clothing and taken it off to weigh?

Instead women around the world (or at least readers of this log) will be either having the sweetest dreams ever picturing this, be vomiting and unable to sleep, or up all night fantasizing. Not sure what category I’ll fall into this evening.

im fantasizing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Scott

Put me down for 10 Euro’s, a pint of Guiness and a shot of Jameson…I’m good for it.

id have taken the money and the jamesons… but the guiness is well out of my leg. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have indeed. Paddy’s is the best whiskey ireland makes. by far.

I know which one

Ho boi this is gonna be epic!

Bartl, my reading is contingent on you maintaining your biting wit throughout the log.

Do it to 'em.

So today was the official start to our little challenge. My boy weighed in at 192 (fucker). I did not get my weight this morning so I will get it tomorrow. Then it becomes truly ON.

Here is what my diet consisted of today. Remember, the diets are going to be the same, there are a few changes regarding the green veggie substitution but for the most part, it should be the same:

Meal #1 -
4 whole eggs
1 stalk of celery

Meal #2
5 oz chicken w/ 1 T coconut oil

Meal #3
5 oz shrimp w/ 1 T coconut oil
massive amounts of lettuce (more like 1 Cup)
1 T PB

Meal #4
1/3 C almonds
2 scoops of Grow! Whey (my Low-Carb Metabolic Drive comes tomorrow)

Meal #5 (cooking as I type)
5 oz chicken
6 oz broccoli
1 T of PB

For my activity, I woke up at 5 am and went for a 40 min walk with my dog. After work, I did a jog/walk for about 20 minutes to see how my knee felt. It didn’t feel good but it didn’t feel bad either.

I don’t think that will be a problem.

your spelling though, something to be desired.

HEY!

It’s “boi” not “boy.” It’s pronounced BWAEH.

Bartl you are a challenge junkie, but it is working for you.

Sayjin has a tight log going right now so this is going to be a good battle.

Oh wow completely forgot to ask you something that’s so much more important than little spelling quips!

My girlfriend is training for the new york marathon, and guess what – her knee is slowing her down. It wasn’t a direct result of a ski accident (more like a small thing made worse from wear and tear), but her situation is somewhat comparable to what you had to deal with for your Triathlon prep. Any tips I can give her? How are you dealing with it?

I love competition. I think it brings out the best in people. Sayjin has an amazing log and his progress is damned impressive. I’m going to have to be really strict with everything to beat him.

Rest and no direct leg training. Which sucks b/c you kind of need your legs for a marathon.

I would tell her to go see a doctor immediately to find out what is wrong. I am still feeling the effects of my injury and plan on getting into a doctor hopefully as soon as next week.

She needs lots of ice and ibuprofen. i prefer aleve, but thats me.

I did weigh myself today. not a happy camper right now.

208.6

butt nekkid

Well look at it this way…you have nowhere to go but down from this weight, but if you for some reason manage to go up you can expect to find an angry black man on your door step. If you consider the fact that it’d cost me about 350+ to fly out to Cali then I’ll be even more pissed.

You have been warned!

Dday and myself are monitoring this as we are in a little competition ourselves…

But were the ‘heavy weights’

Good luck to both of you…

WORK HARD!

Sayjin,

I’ll travel with you. We can beat him up together.

It won’t be necessary though. Chris will be competing in his next Tri under 190. Count on it.

paddys? never heard of it? it muct therefore not exist…

nope you didnt mention your irish… by irish do u mean your great grandfathers goldfishes flat mate is irish? becasue a lot of americans have this confusion that makes them irish somehow…

your nearly 100lbs lighter than me. BE HAPPY!

Scott

I’m glad I’m not the only one thats been off to a slow start. While I got my workout in yesterday, I wasn’t able to adhere to the meal plan since I just found out the night before what I needed to eat. Considering I haven’t done my meal prep for the week I was in a world of hurt yesterday.

I went to the Obama rally last night at Joe Loius so I didn’t get home until 1am, but I’ve been able to stick to the breakfask that we planned out. I’m skipping my workout today in favor of doing my meal prep for the week before I have go back to work tonight. I’d much rather have my meals ready and be unable to workout than have it the other way around.

On another note though, I went to the doctor to discuss the results of my MRI and it turns out that I have a meniscus tear in my knee. What does that mean? He says that it wont heal on its own, but hes sending me to a physical therapist for 4 weeks to see if that will help any and if not he wants me to see a surgeon to discuss the possibility of surgery. I’ve never had any major surgery in my life, so the thought of them operating on something like my knee scares the shit out of my, so you better believe that I’m going to do whatever my therapist tells me to do.

In light of that, I’m going to remove the heavy leg day from workout plan. Both the therapist and doctor said that I could stick with exercises that dont bother my leg, but since squats and leg presses bother it, they’re out. I may keep in the RDLs and good mornings for some hamstring work, but we’ll see as I’m revamping my workout plan this week in light of this new evidence.

I’ll post my workout for yesterday when I get back - gotta run to class.

Mondays Workout:

A1)Gironda Dips
1x6 (BW)

A2)Dumbbell Bench Press (Hammer Grip)
1x8 (60lbs x 2)

2min Rest

B1)Pull Ups
1x4 (BW+20)

B2)Straight Arm Pulldown
1x8 (48lbs)

2min Rest

Repeated 5x

2min rest

Here is my goal - I’m setting the bar kind of high again.

Race Day is August 22nd. My goal is to weigh in between 180-185 on that day.

That means 30 pounds in 10 weeks. Thats 14% weight loss…

I guess in light of the fact that I have already lost close to 25% of my bodyweight already, I should have nothing to worry about.

except my knee
