If this exercise isn’t supposed to be done in the squat rack, then where should it be done? I’ve used a squat rack before to do this exercise because I saw no other spot to do them.
Anywhere NOT the squat rack.
You should be able to pick up and set down your bicep curl weight from the floor. If not, you have serious muscle imbalance issues.
While standing on the floor.
Do you curl with so much weight that you can’t pick it up from the floor?
Dear friends, the end is near…
Do it in the power rack while a horde of chain swinging, mouthfoaming, 300 lbs powerlifters yell your hair color to gray.

I’m glad that I evoked such satisfactory answers. I understand now.
OK, I’ve got my helmet and my cup on so I’m gonna confess now. I got the idea here and I use my rack as a stand for the bar for curls. It’s in my own basement and it’s purely for convenience being pressed for space. I would not however occupy one at a gym for this purpose.
There I said it. I’m gonna hate myself in the morning.
If there’s nobody waiting to use the squat rack then who gives a shit where you do them.

Exactly. Just keep in mind that you can curls anywhere, however people generally need to squat in the rack… so cede the space if someone comes to squat.
