this guy(brandon) i knew in highschool, his sister was mentally retarded and brandon was a total douche.

anyways, one of my friends told me some stupid joke: “what’s the difference between a bowling ball and your sister? nothing they both get fingered, thrown in the gutter and always come back for more”

anyways, when he told me that joke i saw brandon about 30 feet in front of me, i say “hey steve go tell brandon that joke”

steve told brandon the joke then got punched in the face twice and yelled at. owned.
So wait, who was the total douche - Brandon or you?

I find it interesting that they are trying so hard to get the word “retard” banned when we don’t even have the n-word banned. I can see them getting it censored by the (… my mind is drawing a complete and utter blank right now) FCC??? But anything else would just be a violation of our first amendment rights. Being Politically Correct is going to destroy that amendment if we aren’t careful.

uh correct me if I’m wrong here, but I thought they just wanted people to stop using it in every day language?

SSC, your professor is a retard. or a tardo. Not sure which. No, just kidding, I love retards.

That is just plain retarded.

This is america, i seriously don’t think that you are supposed to be able to ban a word here, i dont think there should be movements to ban a word. I wouldnt waste any amount of time to ban a word, that, in itself, wasnt really hurting anyone.
Life has its fucked up moments, people get their feelings hurt, this is not afucking soap opera or wtfe. My cousin is ratarted and her whole family uses the word out of context all the time.

I know everybody knows what they are saying when they say it, i mean seriously, who the fuck doesnt know what it means. When i use the word, i just dont give a shit who hears me, because in my mind, whatever im referring to, is, and always will be, RETARDed. And I tell you what, if the motherfuckers woulda went into the movie theatre and watched the movie with everyone else, theyd of seen a buncha retards laughing their asses off.

I think some people are just generally unhappy, so they need to bitch about something, but when they run out of things to bitch about, they bitch about other peoples bullshit. I dont listen either way, if someone wanted to be a smart ass and say some shit to me about that word being derogatory or something id tell them i know and ask them if they are retarded, and if they’re not they neeed to quit worrying about it.
People do need to realize what they are saying. Retard is a derogatory term for a specific group of people. So if the majority of people are fine with the use of this term, why do they then care if someone uses n-gger, sp-c, f-g, j-p, and so on? These are all derogatory terms for a specific group of people so why are these not allowed but retard is?

If your argument is that it is because retard has become part of every day language, all of the terms I listed above also use to be part of everyday language. I wouldn’t even try and use the arguement that these people never felt the punishment as the other groups given that they have been killed, jailed, or in general hidden from the general population since the start of time.

So please tell me why this term is OK to use but not the others.
Your implication that the common use version of this “derogatory term” is refering to a specific group of people reflects your personal belief that “retards” are an identifiable population.

Do you also believe “n_gger[s]” are a specific and identifiable group of people? Be careful answering that one Mr. Politically Correct.

Your argument is the same old, played out, shallow response dictated by all the other P.C. crusaders lacking imagination.

Would they not be a a group or person that falls below a specific IQ point? I do not recall the number that means you are mentally handicapped.

On another note I do not believe I am Mr. Politcally correct Mr. Asshat.

I just happen to agree with this one movement to try and use the word less.

i mean, waylander, overall i do agree with what you are saying, but it doesn’t hurt to be a little more respectful in front of -certain- people.

Obviously I will not use the word retarded infront of a person with an actual handicap, it’s just street slang that I’ve picked up over time. When I use it I don’t picture someone with Down Syndrome or w/e.

It really doesn’t matter. What you’re saying is, “______ has a mental handicap.” Or, “_______ is slowed down.”

Learn English. Then try again.

I’m glad your now using the word which describe people with mental disabilities as a synonym for fuck. Awesome.

It’s like saying, “That class is gay.” Is the class happy–cheery even!? Or does the class like to make out with other classes of the same sex? I just don’t know. Words is confusing.

NOTE: I’m not offended. I think people should just realize what they are saying. That’s all.

Ok smart ass, so next time you say something is “fucked up” do you mean that whatever you are talking about is having sex?

Or maybe next time you say “I don’t give a shit”, you really are saying you don’t care about poop?

Are you talking to me? I use gay, fag, and w/e else all the time. I do not limit myself to just “retard”

Have you ever in your life witnessed someone administering an IQ test to someone else prior to calling them a retard??? No. Of course not.

You are identifying “retards” based on some other quality, such as the way they look or act.

All the cool kids now say mongloid instead of retard anyway.
For example “That picture is retarded.” is,now “That picture looks like a mongoloid drew it.” Thus giving you a clear mental image of someone that looks like Special Ed from Crank Yankers drawing a picture.

I believe the sentence you were trying to construct would be written as follows:

On another note(,)I do not believe I am Mr. Polit(i)cally correct(,)Mr. Asshat.

The inserted commas would imply that I, EP, am “Mr. Asshat”. As opposed to you, CP, being “Mr. Politically correct Mr. Asshat”.

Unless of course, you were trying to ridicule yourself. Retard.

In all seriousness though, follow your heart. If you don’t want to use a word because it might hurt someone’s feeling, more power to you. I think it’s a great word, and will continue to use it until it is no longer controversial.

My parting thought is this: people are offended by the word “retard” because they are embarassed, ashamed, and uncomfortable with the medical condition of mental retardation. In other words, connotation is attached due to one’s own feelings and beliefs. If you thought that being retarded was acceptable, you wouldn’t care that people are being called retarded.

Hey SSC, were in on the front page of the Herald this morning?

Hmmm… was I? I usually skip over the newspaper, so I’m not sure. I’m sure I can find some laying around tomorrow in the Rec. I was over in the Health and Sciences building, but I guess there were some other places too.

i had a college professor who would call us retarded.

she would say shit like, well, are you retarded or something?

youre not a retard are you?

etc, etc.

she is an old cunt, i hope she gets fired.

That’s a retarded idea.

Retarded means slow, either mentally or physically.
Turtles are retarded.

I hate self-righteous people like this.

We had a buddy in special ed… and HE used to call things retarded… lol… no shit… and he was FULL ON mentally handicapped… He used to say… ‘I’m not a retard… I’m mentally challenged… people that get offended by the work retard, are the retards…’ lol

I just ask because there was a big front page spread about “banning the R word”, and a pic of two students holding sign at the Bernhard center.
