Gotta agree about not liking Dream Theater. Don’t get me wrong, they are INCREDIBLY talented musicians, but there is absolutely no cohesion whatsoever. When I hear their songs I think of a bunch of kids trying to summon adult attention jumping off a diving board…“look at me! I’m an insane bassist! NO, it’s MY turn, listen to me DRUM!!”. They’re a band who should divide into separate solo artists IMO.
Ever notice how many so-called “supergroups” wind up sucking balls? I think DT falls into this category. Just because Les Claypool, Neil Peart and Joe Satriani (or whoever) are the best at their respective instruments doesn’t mean there is any synergy when you put them in a band together.
