Ban on Organic and Backyard Gardening?

LOL. You motherfuckers are absolutely ridiculous.

The politics forum is no longer the home of sane people evidently. Stalin and Obama huh? Oh christ. Even I never went this far with Bush.

No, you were much kinder:

Bush was a puppet. Obama is a puppet. Everyone gives them way too much credit for the damage they’ve allegedly done or will do.

And anyway, this isn’t about Barack Obama. It’s about a genuinely malicious mega-corporation with its tentacles in the food supply of the entire world, sponsoring legislation that, as written, can be used to squeeze organic family farmers and agricultural co-ops out of existence.

I would have thought you’d be all about this, Irish, being as anti-mega-corporation as I assumed you were. Monsanto is to agriculture what Halliburton, Eli Lilly, and Bechtel Corporation are to oil, pharmaceuticals and engineering. Only it’s all three, rolled up into one.

haha. Well, he did damnit. But banning gardening? I don’t think I made a big deal out of something that was so absolutely ridiculous and far fetched.

And that was a good fuckin line, too, you’ve got to admit.

I have said before and I’ll say it again- the Executive branch of the office has too much power. That means Bush, Obama, and everyone going back. I don’t believe that they should be such a huge voice when compared with Congress.

That being said, I don’t believe that either of them were puppets. Although I don’t like Cheney, I never quite blamed him for all the shit that went on, even though he may have been the Rasputin in Bush’s ear- a man has to be responsible for himself.

I don’t think that Obama is a puppet either- he has a chance to define where the Democratic Party goes for the next couple decades. That’s not quite a puppet to me.

It’s not that I’m not against it- it’s just that I don’t believe such a bill has a chance at passing.

I have gotten tired of ranting about corporations. Nobody seems to care, and it’s just “capitalism as usual”. One day we will learn. But not soon.

Ha. Wow. Talk about being subjective here. Bush has fucked up things worse than any president since Herbert Hoover. Don’t talk to me about Obama being worse than Bush.

No, he was busy doing other shit that caused the collective liberal psyche to go into a meltdown, like… uh… that war thing… the PATRIOT Act…etc.

I’m not disagreeing that it’s bullshit, but again I don’t think it has a realistic shot at passing.

Worst, most unethical congress in history? hahahah. It’s fun bein able to sling shit with no proof or backup, isn’t it?

Yeah, I’ll admit, it was a good line.

Hopefully it won’t apply to the present President at the end of his term. Too early to tell.
If you say so. I think he has a lot less influence than he thinks.

I hope you’re right. Just as I hope that others are right about the Assault Weapons ban, the Ammunition Accountability Bill, the Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act and other pieces of shit legislation on the docket right now not having any chance of passing.

But as Clemens said, “no one’s life, liberty, and property are safe when Congress is in session.”

And as Jefferson said, pertaining to this topic, “were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread.”

If Bush tried 1/2 the shit the chosen one is supporting the collective liberal psyche would have been in full melt down.

This bill is a joke. Why should the government control food production.

If people don’t protest this type of crap now it will be too late once it is passed by arguably the worst most unethical congress in history.

Dodd, Frank, Rangel, Murtha, Waters are hardly virtuous legislators.

Are you familiar with Madam Chairwoman’s new rules on minority participation in the Democratic process of creating legislation? She undid most of the reforms that stemmed from the overthrow of 1994.

Need more…

It’s fine if you don’t like W, but take a close look at what Obama and Congress has done.

Can you say “stagflation”?

It’s coming. It’s as if Obama wants stagflation, and is trying his damnedest to induce it. Honest to God, if the man was simply incompetent, he’d at least get something right about the economy.

We’ve already got a recession and relatively high unemployment, and now Obama, Congress, and the Fed are pushing policies that do nothing to combat the unemployment yet will kick-start inflation.

Have you seen the money-supply charts lately? The hockey stick on those fuckers would make Al Gore blush.

W, for all of the condemnable things he did while he was in office, never did anything that harmed everyday Americans the way Obama’s economic policies will.

This isn’t a prediction or a prophecy. It’s like predicting failure for a football coach who believes in throwing and blitzing ten on every single down. It’s just not going to work, and yet people will claim “Just give him a chance!”.

There’s no chance of this passing. I wouldn’t worry about it.

It wasn’t all that long ago when thinking even .01% of citizens of the United States of America would one day support almost ANYTHING you believe was far fetched. Nothing is far fetched anymore.

On March 20, the Federal Reserve announced a plan to pump $1 Trillion dollars into the US economy through the purchase of long-term government debt, a move the central bank has not done in 50 years, and effectively creates the $1 Trillion out of thin air.

Well, on the bright side, because (according to Jefferson) the government dictating how agriculture is run will result in a shortage of bread, at least we won’t have to worry about the wheelbarrows we cart our worthless currency around in being stolen outside the bakery.

Correct. HR-875 is federal, not state.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.875:

Interesting trivia: this bill was introduced by Democratic Congresstwat Rosa de Lauro of Connecticut, who happens to have a husband who works for Monsanto, that fine organization that patented the pig.

Argentum sequor.
I read Federal HR875. Not surprisingly, it neither outlaws nor criminalizes organic or backyard gardening.

Having said that, the guy I get my raw milk from is going back to work, and has relegated his organic farming business to a mere hobby. It has nothing to do with the feds, but rather the economics of organic gardening. It’s hard to get people to pay $5.00 a pound for an organic turkey ($100 for a 20 pounder) when folks can get a Butterball for 99 cents a pound.

If people continue to sit on their butts doing nothing it will pass. It’s just a matter of time.

More about this madness, Monsanto patent for pig:

Yup. I linked to that video on the previous page, along with a Canadian documentary called “The World According to Monsanto.”

Scary fucking stuff.

Oh, sure I’d agree about a number of bills, but not this one. There are millions of small garden/farmers and it would kill all of them if abused but it won’t happen. Obamas themselves are actually starting a garden, and there’s no way they’d make something they are publicly doing illegal.

They almost did it in France with the same kind of bills (now small farming is almost impossible in France, home gardening barely legal), they can do it in the US. Just a matter of time.

It’s the same story playing out over the ages.

In medieval Europe Kings owned all the lands and animals. It was illegal for a peasant to hunt an animal for food. It was punishable by death. Stealing from a King. Same with Farming. Same with Swords being only allowed only for the King and his court. In effect no right for the peasant to bear arms.

See, what’s happening today is a new updated version of the same old same old. A tale as old as time. Stressful? Yes. Righteous? Nope.

But what can a man do? Burn ones self in protest? It’s the way of the world. Fly low under the radar and live out your life happy.

How could they possibly pass this bill? Surely the people would protest such a ridiculous act.

Not in the age of apathy.
Andrew Dixon wrote:

We have a very “functional” government and it’s functions are increasing by the minute. Just your type buddy.

Seriously though, this brings up the fundamental question underlying all of this.

People say “yeah but, yeah but, if we leave the markets, any markets alone they’ll do bad stuff”. Ok, can somebody tell me by what perverse twist of synaptic breakdown we should trust any government of the last 40 years in this country to keep business above board and us safe?

So many drones breathe that sigh of relief, whew! we’re ok now, we have federal oversight. WE ARE!?!?! What universe are people living in?

Until and if we ever learn that government is at best a necessary evil and we the people determine the quality of this country, all these individual issues will be nothing more than rungs down the ladder to a tragic voluntary tyranny.
Andrew Dixon wrote:

The ruling party is building a droid army to do their bidding. They question nothing the supreme leader and his lords come up with. In return the rulers provide them with payments for their obedience. The people will protest nothing.

In reality this will pass with a lot of promises that it will not effect the little guy and will only target the big bad corporations who only want to make a profit. The problem is you will need to rely on the government to selectively enforce it. They will use that ability as a political weapon, as all tyrants do.

The Ukranian’s protested collectivization in the 30’s too.
