I read a report saying that Gray had recently had spinal surgery, so by even walking around outside he was putting his health and life at risk. That is sure to be a mitigating factor in the criminal case.

Wow, that’s huge. You wouldn’t have a link, would you?
Didn’t he also receive a structured settlement (read:major) from a car wreck?
This is sickening, the next time I hear about whites being racist, they should be choked…
A couple of the young men wore bandannas to hide their identity. The young men identified themselves as members of the Crips, Bloods and Black Guerrilla Family street gangs. One of the Crips members, who called himself Charles, wearing a red Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose T-shirt, said the gang members had taken to the street because ?there is only so far that you can push people into a corner.?
?We?re frustrated,? he continued, ?and that?s why we?re out there in the streets.?
Then he described how he and some Bloods had stood in front of black-owned stores to protect them from looting or vandalism. He said they had made sure no black children, or reporters, were hit by rioters. They pointed them toward Chinese- and Arab-owned stores. Charles said Mr. Gray had brought gangs together.
?I rolled over here on a truck, and I was the only Crip and everybody else was Bloods. And they didn?t do anything to me. We?re together in this.?

Maybe the two gangs will join forces. They can combine their names and call themselves the Cruds.

Anyone see the news of the cop being shot by a black guy during a traffic stop?
No… but I suspect this is a setup for another joke.
Cops getting shot (or shot at) isn’t particularly rare, and I’d be remiss to instantly draw any inferences between any particular police shooting and the riots and racial tension in the States right now.
The last two high profile police shootings that come to mind, that had supposed broader “the police are evil/occupying force” were perpetuated by white people in fact. (Unfortunately for the narrative, the particular nut job in PA was apprehended, alive and not tuned up by the police… Which, in turn people see someone selling loosys on the street in NYC apprehended in a manor that killed him, for selling a fucking cigarette.)
It’s pretty damn easy to see why black people are pissed off.

I was thinking they could go by Blips. It seems they lose the name game either way.
The bloods and the crips came together and didn’t riot or shoot anyone which seems kinda positive. Apparently their main action was stopping the ongoing looting of black businesses. There was an interview with a couple of them and I gotta say I was pretty surprised how lucid they were.
I think the alliance was by fringe factions who are trying to decriminalise the gangs like some were in the 90’s, with the blue notes, BGF - Crip - Blood black rights movement that barely got off the ground. It has been done before though Fred Hampton got tens of thousands of gang members to join the rainbow alliance in the 70’s. Could be positive. I think the hysteria over the notion they were uniting to fuck shit up might be unwarranted.

Protecting black owned business by directing the “protesters” to “protest” against Asian owned business.
Really? I didn’t know that. Do you have a link?

They came together because the large police presence is cutting into their bottom line…
I don’t see any evidence of that the drug business is booming like it always will be during prohibition. And I don’t know if this is so but if they are a continuation of the blue notes and politicised factions of the bloods and Crips then I doubt that is the reason for uniting.

I doubt you’re going to see any evidence of it. I think it’s just a common sense observation.

The cops can beat the case if they don’t roll on each other. The prosecution has one hell of a case on their hands.
Circumstantially, they have a strong start. We know before interacting with the police the man was alive and perfectly healthy after wards he was dead.
Actually, if true, it would have been harder to snap his spine because of the titanium rods holding the vertebrae in place. I know from experience. If he recently had spinal surgery, he wouldn’t have been out. The pain level associated with it is astronomical, it’s flat excruciating. I am not saying he didn’t have spinal surgery, but is wasn’t recent. No man is stronger than the pain associated with it.
I don’t know Freddy Gray, but I know spinal surgery. I have had 2, so far, last one in June of last year. 4 months minimum before you can do anything resembling normality. Praying for death is not uncommon.
Let’s just agree to let all the facts come out. If he did have a spinal surgery, he would be less likely to snap his spine, not more. And riding a bike, or running? Out of the question. If cops contorted me like they did him with my spinal condition, I would have died from the pain alone.
