Feeling like rambling:
That’s all I had time for today. I hardly slept, woke up at 5 and had a day filled with meetings – the worst. I cannot wait to sleep tonight. I found out that I’m going to be a moderator for a pretty cool but nerve-wracking event later this month. Also, my feet really hurt after running so much yesterday.
I’m itching to lift more frequently again. This program has become really boring. It hasn’t been super long, but it’s also very similar to Operator, which I had been doing for a while before this one.
I will be watching my friend’s dog for nearly two weeks starting next Friday, so I will hold out until then to change things up. I’ll probably take a small deload and then do a trial week of the SBS RtF program to see which frequency to pursue. In any case, I haven’t seen my Favorite Dog in a long time, and I look forward to running around with him again. Definitely need a little bit of joy right now. I imagine I won’t get much sleep for that time period, but it will be worth it.
I didn’t run it long enough (8 weeks) to give much of an opinion but I liked it. The full-body, high frequency stuff was a change of pace and kicked my ass to start. I did RtF for the duration, at a 4x a week cadence. The days with 3x big lifts took a long time and were completely exhausting. I also ran it during the T-ransformation through a cut, which probably didn’t help.
Going to give it (or another variation) another go this winter when I have a long stretch without travel and I can eat at maintenance or bulk. Also planning on dropping from 5 (4 + 1 amrap) sets per exercise to 3 on a few lifts.
I’ll probably be driving through the northern Midwest (Minnesota) or the southern Midwest (Missouri, does that count?) in about a year if you still need one and happen to be right next to large highway lol
Thanks for the insights! It does look a bit draining, but I’m probably going to run it 3x per week and start a bit conservatively to see how it goes. Will definitely choose RtF. I’ll review your log again to see how you set it up too.
Well, that’s a large region to cover. I do live somewhere between the tip and the bottom of the Midwest, but I will probably buy something before next summer enjoy your road trip!
At the track: 8x400m (1:36,1:36,1:35,1:36,1:37,1:36,1:39,1:38); 400m jog between reps. I took a slightly longer break after the fourth and seventh reps.
Pull-ups 9x4 (three sets normal grip + three sets close-grip + three sets wide-grip; 60s rest)
Push-ups 14,12,13
The track workout felt slow, but I’m glad that I managed to complete two miles of speed work.
AM
Pull-ups 9,5,5,4 (90s rest)
BPA 3x20

Front squat 115x3x3
Deadlift 195x6
PM
30-minute bike ride
Pull-ups 7,7,6

I am again fully convinced that 400s are the best core exercise. Even my quads are sore from yesterday. Anyway, I feel like a zombie today. A deload, even just a short one, feels in order. Long run on Sunday, but then I’ll probably test out a SBS session or two before The Dog arrives.
Another blah day. At least time went by faster because I ran a new route. I ended up having to take public transit home.
Unfortunately, my mood turned sour on the way ride home when a guy who looked at least ten years older than me decided to hit on me in probably the creepiest way possible after I clearly indicated I was not interested in interacting with him in the first place. I should not be so worked up about it, and, of course, being a human being sucks. But sometimes being a woman really sucks. /endrant
Bagsy if there was a zombie apocalypse, you would have no problem getting away from zombies if they were chasing you. I don’t think creepo mctransit guy will, he seems a little slow.
Pull-ups 9,6,6,5,4; 90s rest
BtN press 35x5x7+ (18)
Front squat 90x5x5+ (11)
Kneeling ab wheel 2x20
BPA 3x20
Three-mile run in 25:04
I’m trying out a few days of my tentative SBS program. I think the higher volume squat and deadlift volume is needed, felt kinda weak there today. But I guess that can happen after months of lower volume, higher-intensity programming and after having run 11 miles less than 24 hours before. It feels good to change things up though.
Pull-ups 1,2,3,4,5,5 (10s rest per number of reps completed in previous set)
Push press 65x5x5+ (10)
Paused SSB squat 75x3x7+ (15)
BPA 25,20
Hilly five-mile run in 43:30
Another Big No on pull-ups today. I am excited for a deload. I hadn’t push pressed or touched the SSB in several months; adding some variety again is nice. Anyway, I think I will approach this program somewhat conservatively regarding the frequency and number of barbell lifts each day because I want to continue running, and my head space still isn’t great. On the bright side, the weather was heavenly this morning – less than 70 degrees. I almost shed a tear.
I think this is a good call. I started with weights conservative but the program is much more responsive to success and failure than most I have used, so by the end of the first block my conservative starting weights didn’t really matter. I was struggling to hit the goal reps by the first week of the second block, not coincidentally, when I ended the program
