Bagsy's Training Log

Sure, they’re not as difficult for males. But that still doesn’t make them easy

1 mile run this morning in 7:32.

The weather was perfect this morning. Definitely taking tomorrow entirely off though. Lots of conditioning these past several days.

I’ve played around with landmine belt squats recently. Can you not tighten the straps in the belt? So the bar hangs about mid thigh rather than at your knees?

Also, at the risk of offering ignorant advice, I think 350 sets (Paul Carter) would be good for this movement.

Anyway, I think you’ve seen my log, so take any advice from me with a hefty pince of salt!

I’m enjoying your log, good work!

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately the belt isn’t adjustable. I might head to Home Depot tomorrow and see if I could buy concrete blocks since those are cheap.

After reading what 350 sets are, I think that’s a great idea. And hey, those 30 rep squats in your log are no joke!

Just curious…if you dont mind me asking. What field of graduate studies are you in?

I’m in a STEM field but often feel I belong in the humanities, hahaha. I’d probably say the specific field via a less public medium or maybe in the future, but at the moment I’m not sure how much of my identity I want to reveal.

And grab a smaller carabiner. The one you are using looks pretty long.

I have a 3/8x3.5 carabiner I can use instead of a 1/2x5.5, but I don’t think it will make much difference.

I use a small 2 inch on my belt with chain and stand on cinder blocks. I don’t use my landmine attachment but I have had four 25s on there with no problem.

How tall are the cinder blocks?

8 inches.

Super, thanks

Couldn’t fall back asleep and didn’t feel super tired, so I lifted today anyway…

C2W1D3

3x3 tuck jumps

50 pullups

Squat
35x5
90x5
105x5
120x5
90x5x5

52 pushups
55x2x8 front loaded BSS
2x15 dragon flags
100 band pull aparts

The top set felt unfortunately a bit heavy, but overall I think the belt squats are already helping. From the squats alone I actually felt like my legs got a workout today.

Being tired does weird things to perceived effort. Sometimes you don’t feel like you even have to try, other times an “easy” weight feels like a ton. Good on ya for pushing through. Any video of the squat? Glad you felt some effort from your legs.

Nah, I think I’ll film next week or the week after when my form inevitably falls apart and looks like a squat morning again ahahaha. It’s usually when the bar is loaded with more than my BW that things fall apart anyway, but I hope to see small improvements

Save up and buy a proper belt squat for yourself if it works good lol. Only a few grand

I bet one of those machines costs more than my monthly paycheck, so if you want to buy and ship to me, be my guest ahahaha

If u ask nicely I’ll chip in 20 kangaroo dollars. Looking at least a grand I think. I know a guy who has one for his home set up but not many people do. It’s a lot of money to invest at that point tho FWIW a strength training gym with access to it would also cost more.

Ah, okay, I’ve heard $3k thrown around. I was recently a member at a gym for less than a year that got a homemade one, but I never tried it. Honestly, my setup is decent already. And at my level, I don’t think I can justify spending money on something so premium and specific just to be a little less weak.

get lift none the less
