Disappointed in everything Sandler did after SNL. None of his movies are timeless classics, they’ve all lost their appeal. Sure Gilmore, Billy Madison, Big Daddy were all funny. But the later films were not funny. But I guess he wanted to take his career in different directions. I know Funny People wasn’t funny but maybe he was going for a darker comedy movie (??). I won’t even talk about Zohan…
wait you didn’t like I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry or Click?

Add The Waterboy to the list of hilarious Sandler movies. I’m not sure what came last, Big Daddy or Waterboy…but everything after that was miserable dreck.

Every Will Ferrell movie apart from Anchorman
You’re insane.

Old School? Step Brothers?

I love almost every Will Ferrell movie, even land of the fucking lost. To me he is a prime example of a guy who is funny when put into a role, but not a funny guy when interviewing or when spontaneous, Im saying this via the interviews I have heard with him.

I think seth rogen is awesome, funny people I dont believe was meant to be really funny it was about funny people. I like Adam Sandlers movies because I take them for what they are, I cant stop laughing at that Zohan flick (no no no its the bush). Grown ups was just forced and retarded. But Sandler is a good actor and proved that in Punch Drunk Love, Spanglish and Reign Over me.

I never found the “classics” to be funny at all, I guess its the time period and am not crazy about slap stick. But 3 stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Abbot and Costello meh.

I like the Adam Sandler movie formula, but sometimes it falls short.

Like Grown Ups, Mr. Deeds, Little Nicky, etc.

Other movies of his were pretty good though. Happy Gilmore was a movie we all quoted a TON in the 90’s, same with Billy Madison.

Sandlers formula to me is basically like:

 1. Create a narrative
 2. Sandler is the lead
 3. Fill in the gaps with over the top characters (tons of examples to be made here)
 4. Sandler spends 1/3 of the movie laughing at the over the top characters, thus allowing you to do the same
 5. Sandler wins the game, gets the girl, or both.

CREDITS

Happy Madison movies arent life changers, but they’re entertaining for the most part.

The part in Land of the Lost where the T-Rex shows up and has Will Ferrell’s laser pointer between its teeth so that he has the laser dot slowly going up his body to his head was pure genius.
The weird thing is that it didn’t make me laugh though, that part, even though I thought it was comedy excellence.

Yes, Will Ferrell was AWESOME in every movie he ever starred, Zoolander is just hilarious, even that serious one about the writer who commands his life.

^Ahh Yes Stranger than Fiction was another good one.

Agreed. Holy crap, Dave Matthews crapped me up in one of his scenes

I don’t know why, but that cracked me up. While we’re at it, John Turturro was funny in that movie. He’s a pretty good actor if you ask me, great in The Big Lebowski “Nobody fucks with the Jesus”

College was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

Sex Drive was a movie I thought would be terrible, but turned out pretty decent. Seth Green was hilarious in it.

I’m looking forward to his new movie, Everything Must Go. He was pretty good for his few episodes in The Office, too. Deangelo Vickers, haha.

Yup, me too. Maybe I just don’t get British humor.

Hmmm there were reasons to watch Chuck and Larry. A pair of them actually.

I still think Sandler is moving towards being an actor rather than just known for his comedy. That’s totally okay. Just that I kind of watch his movies, forget them and not want to see them again.

This was quietly brilliant. I found it really draws you in through the length of the movie.

Tends to use the same actors across films playing small, supporting roles - which is actually a nice touch.

I find Will Ferrell’s comedy really appeals to an international audience. He is funny. I liked watching his skits on SNL and enjoyed it even more when he moved to movies. An acquaintance I met once, a Japanese lady, told me her favorite actor was Will Ferrell, I was both surprised and impressed.

Elf, Step Brothers, Talladega are astronomically funny.

I have not enjoyed comedy movies before simply because I was not in the right frame of mind to watch them. I didn’t think Step Brothers was good the first time I saw it. Same for Napoleon Dynamite. Then I watched them again and laughed my ass off.

This might be the case for me with Walk Hard. I will give it another try when it’s on demand.

^please do, its so ridiulous its amazing. Its a parody movie thats so stupid its smart!

I had the same feeling with the hangover, the first time I saw it I was dissapointed but then saw it again and found it hillarious.

One of many awesome quotes from Walk Hard…

EDITH: What about my dreams?!

DEWEY: Edith I told you I can’t build your candy house! It will fall apart, the sun will melt the candy, it won’t work!

John C. Reilly so underrated pure comedic genius for my money

Agreed, when a comedian can surpass cultures and still be funny thats impressive.

Give Will Ferrell a good character and hilarity will always ensue:

brewster’s millions. i understood that it was a comedy, by process of elimination, it had richard pryor and john candy, but there was no attempt at humor. except for one joke. the movie really made me curious about genres.

Spanglish and anything with Adam Sandler.
