Things have been good!

Here’s a water slide in the bed of a creek I hiked up a couple of times this year.

Water level view a little further upstream…

Some cinnabar chantarelles that were hiding under the canopy of mountain laurel.(good in omelets.)

A gathering of butterflies in a cool bed of sand on the side of the creek. This was in a deep rock walled channel cut through the mountains. Got this one at exactly the right time.

Me being a little doughy.

Same location, different perspective. We ended up climbing out of here shortly after as we were running out of daylight. It gets dark fast in those hollows, and the terrain wasn’t very easy even in the daytime.

Up close and personal-

Thats all so far this year. As you can see, I travel pretty light on these little day trips. The camera usually gets left behind. The wife is areal trooper about it. She gets a little scared with the snakes and stuff, because she got bit by a copperhead a couple of years ago. We were crossing a creek and comming up the bank when she put her hand directly on it (thought it was a stick). Lucky for us, it was just a strike. It tore the skin where the fangs dragged across her hand, but didn’t invenomate.

Wow that’s pretty crazy dude. that’s a nice spot you’ve got there, I dig it. Only went camping once and fishing once this summer, kind of pissed, but we tend to go more in the fall/winter anyway.

Although I definitely liked sleeping in 60 degrees way better than sleeping in 4. Lot less stiff in the morning too.
