Back to It

shitty rainy day, cold outside, worked from home while also dealing with odd texts from my ex and emails from lawyers. really didn’t feel like going out at all, much less to the gym.

prowler 40yrd x 10 sprints

was going to do some more strongman oriented conditioning work, but plan to pull from the floor Friday, so did the following to finish to make up for lack of assistance last night

seated over head pin presses 5 x 5
fat bar curls 5 x 8

rear delt machin 4 x 8
machine preacher 4 x 12

cable abs 4 x 8

now the best thing about this workout was this: for the last month or so on of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, literally a 9.5,
has been showing up to the gym. she is flawlessly beautiful, tall, lean, like a Vic’s model but with a little muscle on her. olive skin, long dark hair, I mean fucking damn near perfect. well, she started chatting me up between sets. discovered we have a ton in common - two sets of kids, one from when we were 18 (we both have 24 year olds) and then some younger ones, both split from ex in the last couple of years, both love lifting, etc etc. Now, this may go nowhere, but after 15 years of being with one person, getting a knock out to flirt with you is pure gold in the ego department.

thanks, coming from you that is gold

My overall strength is improving, I think I am close to where I was at a year and a half + ago in most areas.

ME lower

front squats to box bar x 10, 135 x 5, x 5, 225 x 3, 315 x 1, 365 x 1, 405 x 3. Had some left in the tank, but this is a +2 rep PR, and I had no spotters. Still feeling very congested so was hard to get air, but each rep fired fast and confident.

rack pulls, mid shin against quadded minis 135/225/315/405/495 x 3, + 40 over last time, and 130 over 2 months ago

farmers walk x 4 trips

prowler sprints x 6

ghr 3 x 8

And the KO was there again tonight, she came in, saw me, waived across the gym, came over and talked many times, was curious about band tension (probably not really), came downstairs when I was doing farmers and stood close talking to me, then said she was sorry for distracting me lol. Deep breaths old man. I also realized I probably have next to no experience at flirting/dating etc in my adult life that didn’t involve alcohol. Well, we can keep learning at any age…

pullaparts 5 x 30

de bench w swiss bar 155 + dbl minis 8 x 3

rev grip db bench 602/70s/80s/90s/100s x 8

close grip w swiss bar 3 x 6 w 225

tri ext w swiss bar 4 x 12 w 135

front raise 4 x 8

pressdowns 5 x 12

nice work on those front squats

and your winning on the flirting

thanks bro, yeah, also had a date yesterday which I know you saw the fb pick of. doesn’t do her justice, 42, great body, smoking hot, lots of tattoos, and she had a crush on my 23 years ago because of the way my back hair showed out of my fred perry. go figure.

the main goal here is to feel positive and not that I am going to die alone, and I am finding there are plenty of women that meet my ridiculous standards available and age appropriate

yesterday:

cable abs 6 x 10

ghr 5 x 8

leg ext 3 x 10

unilateral leg press 4 x 8

banded good morning 3 x 10

quick one, just light assistance, was feeling pretty beat up

lawyers, stress, etc. divorce almost wrapped up, hopefully. and I feel screwed, but oh well, we adapt and adjust

ME upper

had very short window, was going to do fat football bar bench, but no spotters, so warmed up with that and switched to an overhead movement. No worries, not like I am competing anytime soon

Viking press 45 x 10, 90 x 6 x 2, 135 x 6, 180 x 3 x 3, 135 x 8

pulldowns w fat rotator bar 8 x 8-12

rev cable curl/cable curl 3 x 8 each

Pete, solid work. You deserve the happiness that awaits. What’s her stance on gear whoring

Will have a couple teammates heading up to your neck of the woods to lift at the Nordic Man meet.

Yesterday finalized the terms of my divorce, sans trial. The last few days sleep has been little, food sporadic, and stress high. My immune system feels fucked, but wanted to get in to do something today.

gms w/ss yoke bar bar x 10, 150 x 5, 240 x 3, 330 x 3 x 3, 240 x 10

prowler sprints 40 yrds x 8

cable abs 4 x 10
db shrugs 4 x 12

ghr 4 x 8
rope hammer curls 4 x 12

I am hoping you are reaching the end of this challenging stage of life. Better days are ahead. Glad you are still lifting.

Yes, definitely feel like I am at a point where I can start to make plans to move forward. Stress is not done by anymeans, but a lot of uncertainty is gone.

Yesterday my body was fugged, worked from home, rescheduled meetings to take a long nap, worked some more, then picked up my kids for an extra night visit. That soothed my soul a bit, had the kids piled in with me after watching superhero movies, then they snuck out of bed and made themselve breakfast. These boys rule. Got up at 10, finally (I was sleeping with one eye and one ear open for the last hour once they got up), we did some stuff for 8 year olds cub scouts, dropped them off in the afternoon and went to the gym.

pullaparts 5 x 30

de bench w/ swiss bar warm ups then 135 + dbl minis 2 x 3, 155 2 x 3, 175 2 x 3

unilateral cable pulldowns 4 x 8
db bench with 100s 4 x 8 - shoulder felt poppy, kept it there

rolling tris w/kettle bells, did one set w/ light weight, then went just a little heavier, shut down, effed with my elbows to much

extension w/swiss bar 4 sets, last two 175 x 10, heaviest I have gone with these, felt great
db upright rows 4 x 8

pressdowns 4 x 15
seated machine rows 4 x 10

was about to finish up with some pec deck and reverse delt work, and the same thing happenend as last week: this older bodybuilder black dude obviously from the hood (this gym is in the hood where I ‘came of age’, lots of crime, gangs, etc) came in wearing his 30 year old zubbaz, his doo rag, his fanny pack, and set up his valure wolf towel/blanket on the pec dec, and sat down. from the previous couple of saturdays I knew he would be there until the gym closed. so I decided I was done. I have some work stuff to wrap up, then watch some movies. tomorrow I plan to do a lot of ‘planning the next phase of my life’ stuff. plus argue with sprint. and squat.

stress caught up with me and have been physically out of it for last couple of days. Sunday did some work prep, was stuck on the phone with sprint for 4 hours, and did some list making, and collapsed. Monday work stuff, but felt completely run down. It didn’t help that at one point I was trying to carry laundry down the stairs on Sunday and slipped, and took a decent tumble. Today made it in and felt like shit. I think I have had this sinus thing for a month, and it just doesn’t want to go away except for here and there.

ssb box squats. worked up to 600 for 1. it felt horrible on my back, and my fall the other day effed up my good knee, so shut it down there.

unilateral leg press 8 sets total, 6-10 reps per set

ghr 4 x 8

abs 4 x 8

do upper tomorrow and another lower the next day, then off camping next weekend for cub scouts

600 is great box squat. Hopefully, your knee will recover well.

thanks gv, I have been able to rep that weight even recently. also noted I did take water pills that day, for my kidney issue, which I think left me extra depleted. still dried out today a bit, went in and did the following

bench w/swiss bar, medium grip bar x 25, 95 x 15, 135 x 10, 185 x 10, 225 x 6, add rev band 275/315/365 x 6, recent pr, shut it down there as I had no real spotters, happy how the right tricep handled the weight at the top, progress

bent row w/swiss bar 135/225/275/315 x 9, like these

face pulls/rope downs/rope extensions 4 sets each

last night

still feeling beat up from falling the other day, right knee very tight

giant cambered bar box squats 3 x 5 light just to warm things up

new rogue deadlift platform, had to play

conventional pulls against average bands 135/225/315/405/455 x 3, no belt

these were brutal

curls w/axle 4 x 6-10
