Rode yesterday. All of 2 something miles. I’m trying my best to keep effort low. Can’t get enough air. Oddly last 3 attempts, Heart rate would just go up. No matter how much I tried I couldn’t keep it below extreme perceived effort. Just crawling up hills. When I ride with nearly no resistance on the trainer, I can do lazy mountain like 1/2 hour… I can breathe okay-ish.

Given how much a 2 mile ride hits my recovery, I think I’ll focus on lifting. What riding I do should be on the trainer.

Ok, My better half has noticed me out of breath with trivial efforts. I still have no work capacity. After about 500 yards riding becomes a serious (perceived) effort. After a mile or so, it becomes an effort of sheer will. She finally insisted something is wrong.

So scheduled an appointment got a ton of tests… Results? TSH is in the basement, enough to explain my relative immobility. But also, Ferritin is way too low. High RBC’s but then a Hypochromasia diagnosis. Levels are low enough I’ll start the intervention before doctor has given instructions. Started Iron and upped my levothyroxine dose awaiting doctor’s directions. Likely It’ll take 2-4 weeks before I notice effects of intervention.

ok, so found out not only pretty severely anemic, but also thyroid is way low… Worse yet, they’ve been low since surgery. Several tests and doctors looked right past it.

So, no wonder I am sluggish and everything is an act of will. Doc was supposed to get back to me 3 days ago. I’ve started iron supplements and 3 of 4 days doubled my levothyroxine. Just to recover from the anemia is 2-3 weeks.
