I appreciate yalls understanding. Its real hard for me. Emotionally I mean. Sometimes I’ll type something and just cant submit it. I cant help but think of him, and every time I do it gets tough.
Squat day (Mon.)
Well it wasn’t much, but I did get a PR.
10xbar,10x135,8x225,6x315,3x405PR.
Depth was good. As a matter of fact Mikey said, “Dang uncle Lonnie your getting some depth”.
Thanx Guys. There is one thing though. Since all this stuff is going on in my life, Ive been nervous eating. I wont make 198. Sooo no state record. I dont like it, but anything over 385 still ranks me in the top 50 nation wide (in NASA). Anything over 400 puts me in the top 20. I guess that will have to do.
Great work. Are the DB tiecep ext. standing or sitting? And did you use one DB or two? Please say one. If those are per arm, I am crawling back in my hole…
Actually, JimmyT is the man when it comes to curls. He out curls me. I wasn’t wearing a belt. That’s why I missed @155,I think. After that I put the belt on for the last set. I must admit, They weren’t “perfect”. At this point I’m just "sling’n weight. Getting ready for the meet.
LS: It was two dumb bells. Just kidding. It was one. They were sitting. I don’t do much standing. My back hurts too much. And believe me my arms are sore today.
And to make matters worse, I got a new shirt. And it TIGHT! I was dink’n around today. I had trouble getting 275 to my chest. It cut the crap out of my triceps and pecs. I called the dealer to see if it was the right size and he said the shirt fit just GET SOME WEIGHT ON THERE!
I’ve never even seen a bench shirt in person…only in videos. I am assuming that it is designed so that, relaxed, your arms are in an almost fully extended position? And that, as the bar lowers, the resistance gets greater?
Any idea what the difference in your max is, shirted vs. raw?
Well, really it keeps everything tight. For me, shoulders especially. My right shoulder gives me a lot of trouble. What that does is let me OVER LOAD the muscle. A lot of guys think it’s the shirt that does the lifting. I always say, “put the shirt on, load the bar with about 400 and let’s see”. In other words the lifter has to be strong enough to lift it.
As far as what it adds, for me, probly 40-50 or so. Like I said it keeps me tight. I have a friend in Montana. His shoulders are good. it doesn’t add that much for him. We bench about the same.
Its a tool. Like the wraps. They serve a purpose. Im a shirted bencher. My shoulders are just too jacked.

That makes complete sense. I didn’t so much think that it lifted the weight as it “encouraged” your arms to return to an extended position. That was a guess, though, as I , obviously, have never been in one.
I never really thought much about the “tightness”, even though I knew they were snug. I can see how that would be of benefit, especially with shoulder issues.
Speaking or wraps, I went ahead and ordered the Inzer wrist wraps. Should be here next week. Thanks for the advice!
Bench day. New shirt.
10xbar,10x90,10x135,6x185,5x225,Put the shirt on 3x275 4b,5x315 4b,2x365 3b,5x405 3b,1x425 3b,5x365 2b,1x365 to chest: shirt still tight, pulled me out of grove, still managed, 6x315 1b, 1x315 chest.
b = board.
Had a tough mental day. I felt focused. Just couldn’t put it together. I miss loaded a bar, and missed a hand off.
Speaking of hand offs, on the 425, some how the bar bounced on the hand off. It tweaked my left shoulder.
Well that little tweak wasn’t so little. Kept hurting. Not bad, just there. Went to the gym today. Tried some close grip benching. Shoulder didn’t feel right. Laid off. Tried seated mill. 105 for 12 is all I had. At that point, I stopped. Made an appointment with the Doc. By the time I got to the Doc. The pain was radiating down my tricep.
She walks in and says “so your shoulder hurts”. Yeah and its radiating down my tricep. She gets this frown on her face and says that’s not good. She puts her finger right where it hurts and says “it hurts here”.
Torn rotor cuff. She doesn’t know how bad. Waiting on an appointment with an Ortho. We’ll see.
