Do you find that you give people online more/less credibility/respect based on their avatar?
yes. especially if they use pics of themselves.
makes you feel like your talking to a person, not some random online presence.
So basically you are asking if you judge people based on their avatar selections?
I don’t know about actual respect, but I do associate people with their avatars, so when they change it, it takes a while to actually reassociate them with their new avatars.

I have to agree with this, when someone is talking about training and they have an avi of big boobs it just doesn’t feel as credible. But whatever, you have to take everything on the internet with a grain of salt anyways.
Here - IMO - profiles say more. People that do not post any info or pics in their profile make me suspicious.

Well,I tend to agree.
I know this isn’t Myspace or facebook,
but c’mon!
If you like a certain pic in your avatar 'cos you think it says more about your personality,or its inspirational or funny or whatever, then fine, but your profile is a chance to shine or bare all.
There’s people who’ve been on here for quite some time without so much as one photo or any info, and I wonder about them.I like to talk to a person, not an anonymous avatar floating in the ether.
Are we not here to learn,exchange ideas,network,flirt,‘work it’,show progress,show off,whatever?
How about a name with a face?
And a little background?
It doesn’t have to be a photo of them flexing with their shirt off,a face is good.
I wouldn’t write off someones opinion because my muscles are bigger than theirs or I have been training longer,I would debate it to a point, and I would hope the majority of T-Nation users would be open-minded too.
(Sadly I know some are not)
I used to get comments about my first avatar “Why should I listen to a guy with an avatar like that”… but whatever. I’ll listen to a guy with a Daffy Duck cartoon avatar if he says the right things and speaks from experience.

agreed, the reason why I changed my avatar was because I’d ask a question and the only response would be “I was going to answer your question but instead I’ve been staring at your avi’s for the last 10 minutes” so now its transformers which are almost as awesome as ewa sonnet
What someone says and their character is more impressive to me than posting a pic. Who is to verify the accuracy of your pic anyways?
If you’re avatar is a hot chick, your views will go up. If your avatar is a hot chick that could be perceived as the person posting, you’ll get double the views.
Dudes get low view unless they use themselves as avatar and they look like they train.
Or they got bad ass avatars like me.

Did you just compare one of the greatest racks in the history of racks to a fucking movie about cars that turn into robots?
We are so not friends anymore.
I had to change mine.

Wait…this isn’t Frank Zane?
I think your avatar should express something about you, whether that be a lust for booty, big pipes or Bob Saget.
