x - wat numbers do u think are athletic or built at wat height? i was thinking this today. im 6’1" and years up years until i even think of cutting.

but it would be interested to see at wat height/weight do u look good? any ideas or links?

Most of it depends on body structure. There are always those people who LOOK 20-30lbs heavier than they are and those who look like they weigh much less. However, in general, I would say most people up to and under 5’8" will look pretty damned filled out at 190lbs. Someone that height would look like an experienced competitor if they were near that weight in contest condition. For most people over that height up to about 6 feet, you really don’t start to look really muscular until you get PAST 200lbs. I have a pic in my profile of me at 210lbs. I was getting a lot of comments about how I was built back then also.

I would think someone over 6 feet to 6’2" would need to set sights on hitting 225+ in order to look “built”.

Obviously, if the goal is to look “extremely muscular” (which is obviously my goal) you will have to shoot for much more than that. Most competitors won’t be winning many national comps over 6’2" weighing only 200lbs. They won’t even get noticed.

thanks man was helpful as a guide, i guess 260 at least before i even contemplate cutting ahaha ;)[/quote]

I’m 6’1 and a half at 210lbs. I look like I lift weights, but not “built”. It sucks because my 5’8 160lbs roommate gets more attention than I do. Oh well, guess I’ll have to eat more.

Toney just doesn’t fit in with modern bodybuilding very well. You don’t see many tall guys anymore because it’s hard for them. Like X said he doesn’t look very filled in compared to shorter, thicker guys, even though he has more muscle. I don’t know if he doesn’t want to put on more muscle or if he can’t, but at his age he probably won’t be changing much. For him at this time it’s all about coming in full and hard. A slight change in his condition can make him look awesome or disapointing.

Does vascularity play a role in scoring? I think Dex’s look above is much better then Tony’s.

As for small joints, I always thought they were a curse but as I’ve been packing on some more size they can help muscles look more impressive. Only in their flexed state though.

My wrist are so fucking skinny still I can touch my fingers when i wrap them around.

greater vascularity usually leads to a greater degree of conditioning meaning less bf% and that gets scored better.

Small joints are DEFINITELY a blessing. Phil Heath for example in a T-shirt doesn’t look as big as some of the other guys (minus his freaking monster arms) but take his shirt off and he explodes…Flex Wheeler, Dennis Wolf, and even the NPC LA winner and now pro Ahmad Ahmad…he had some tiny joints and deep abs as well. But when I saw him backstage in clothes he barely looked like he lifts…clothes off and he’s looks like a behemoth.

point is…small joints = genetic blessing. lol

Yeah, being 6’5" and having 8 inch wrists seemed so awesome…at first.

a young kai phenomenal for a natural if u ask me
