Aug '17 Photo/Video Check-In

This is an idea to improve the forum community, but this thread absolutely does not reflect any type of “official” T-Nation site membership requirement. It’s an idea that’s been percolating for a while, and I’m just some schmoe on the forum (okay, maybe that’s not so accurate anymore) who figured I’d start a thread about it.

It’s a check-in, not a call-out. The idea is to improve the sense of community and remind us all that, no matter what we post about here and what initially brought us to the site, the one common trait that every forum member should have is a consistent drive to attack our training and see results, period.

I’m asking for all forum members to post a current snapshot of themselves. And let’s try not to get too distracted or off-topic with critiques of what gets posted. There should end up being more posts with images attached, than not.

If your goals are physique-based - you want to get bigger or get leaner or get bigger and leaner - toss up a current pic.

If your goals are performance-based - the powerlifter, the fighter, the Olympic lifter, etc. - you’re not excused. You’re invited to post a short video clip from a recent training session.

I’m just asking you to participate and play a role in improving the quality of the forum as a whole by reinforcing the idea that T-Nation members know how to do more than just rack up high post counts in the non-training-related sections of the site.

Concerned about staying anonymous? Sites like pixlr and fotoflexer are free Photoshop-like websites that make it ridiculously simple to edit/blur/obscure your face, identifying tattoos, birthmarks, background detail, or anything else that might threaten your anonymity.

So, no excuses.

Took part in the T-ransformation challenge earlier this year and kept it going another two months.

213 at the last check-in to 195 this past Friday. So, down 18 pounds in 6 months.

I have a recent deadlift PR of 585…

…but I am planning to pull 600 this weekend, so I might have to come back and update this shortly.

That looked super-smooth, man. Very solid work. For sure 600 is there.

Quick reminder that in the Feb check-in you wrote: “planning to test my 1RM sometime this summer, looking for something in the mid-500’s (at least 545), with a longer-term goal of 600 by the end of this year”, so you’re well-ahead of schedule.

First competition in 11 years. I’d been back in the gym for 3 months the day of the comp, hadn’t been in a gym in over a year before that.

Two meet PR’s (squat and bench).

Also, I turn 40 in three weeks.

I’m working on building up my strength with a lot of submaximal stuff at the minute so no big PRs. Here’s some squats and deadlifts from just over a week ago though.

I’ve been holding steady at about 200 even though Ol Bill has been ridin my ass like a White House intern.

Well this is a couple of weeks old, but I think I’m doing good for having a stroke a year ago. Let’s see if I can set some new pr’s this year. I turn 55 this weekend.

I’m doing great, thanks for asking!

Just to show that I’m still training, I have a video of me training technique on my stone of steel for triples

I don’t really have anything recent that is noteworthy otherwise. I’ll be 2 years post ACL repair in Nov, and things seem to be moving along well.

My goal is to surpass my previous best shape, so I’m trying to get a bit leaner AND build a bit of thickness and width up top.

I’ve been nailing my intake targets for about three months now. About two weeks ago, I made a pretty big shift in my lifting style. I’m doing a TON of horizontal pushing and pulling now.

Averaging about 189lbs these last few weeks, but reaping some noob recomp from the shifting of the lifting. 5’11".

Slow and steady with a few steps forward and one or two back every once in awhile…

Still nothing pretty but I feel about 15-20 years younger, I’m a lot stronger, and a lot faster. Over the past few months I’ve been focused on tracking and improving my diet - more quality fruits, vegetables, proteins, and fats. My goals have shifted a bit from worrying about strength, scale weight, and appearance to improving my overall diet and health (obviously the aforementioned are still used as measuring sticks). I’d still like to get to a big three total of 1,200 (current 1,085) in the next 2 years while being able to run a sub 6 minute mile (current 7:25).

Well, I guess so

Couple of things I’m excited about, the last workout of my bench cycle I got 145lbs for a sloppy single that made me feel like I def had a few more pounds in me, and at the end of my last squat cycle I got 215lbs for a couple of doubles.
I remember not too long ago I was super nervous to do my first single at 215, now I did doubles without even feeling like I needed or wanted a spot. Slow and steady !!

Nothing earth shattering, but I’m still grinding, 415x3 is the most I’ve had on the bar since my hamstring/tricep injuries and it felt good, need to re-tool my form as I’ve gotten rusty, but it moved better than I expected.

The Oly lifts can really mess with your head. True story, I missed a 110kg clean and got so pissed I kicked the BB and broke the nail off my big toe. Darn lucky I didn’t break the damn thing.

Awesome work everyone! Here’s a grind with 220kg/484lbs. Only the second time I’ve done it without straps.

Uh oh–did you watch the ‘Ring’ tape?

(Pop culture reference decipherable only if you’ve seen the movie)
