yeah. I really just need to start learning the split, I just haven’t had the time. Right now my best jerk is 130, which is really terrible when you consider i’ve got a 126 push press. What would you suggest to get faster on the dip?
You don’t need to learn the split, the power jerk is a viable alternative, there’s enough world class lifters doing it to provide evidence of that (Aukhadov, Bedzhanyan, Torokhtiy, to name a few). As for faster on the dip, you’d be better off thinking “slow is smooth and smooth is fast” and keeping your torso vertical through the dip and drive (you can see your hips moving back and forth) rather than just trying to be faster. Speed before positions results in fucky lifts.

I found that your photo had been edited. Here is the original. I know you love nature, but I’m not sure if you can bear it.
You are simply too kind, my friend. Way too kind.
Nice pic Push. Now that I have been FORCED to look at your posterior chain, I must say there is serious hamstring development. Zercher squats paid off.

Much grass, man.
RDL’s fer da hams. Zercher squats for da quads. Don’t fuck around with light weights, high reps and machines. And…go heavy.
My favorite current protocol is “ladders.” Sets of 3, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 3 – so 30 reps with a weight that makes you weep when you do the 6 rep set and oh so fookin happy that you get to climb down the ladder. Add weight when necessary and that should mean consistently.
I’m currently at 455 with the RDL’s and 335 with the Z’s.
My best RDL effort is 3 x 6 x 475 but I think the ladders with 455 might very well accomplish more. 18 total reps at 475 = 8550 lbs was excruciating and feels more difficult but 30 reps at 455 = 13,650 lbs is obviously a significant increase in total work load.
I just started doing ladders for legs a few months ago and wished I’d done them a long time ago. It is easier psychologically, I think, and allows more work to be done.
Brutal poundages for RDL’s.
And even though I haven’t really done any hypertrophy training, I think I’m still pretty well keeping my muscle. 197 this morning.

Damn boy, your erectors must be like steel cables! Nice work!

Been awhile since I’ve posted any real training related stuff, but with good timing of a check in thread, I’ll share today’s milestone squats for this old fat dude. 575 (PR), then 600 (PR). Sleeves.
575
600
On to 700.
Much respect! That 575 was deep!
Wow, I actually have something to contribute for one of these check-in threads.
A former permabulker (and chronic lurker) decided to lose some weight. I’m down about 55 lbs since the start of the year. Currently weighing 245. I’m trying to hit 240 before stopping the cut, so I’ll be around 250 once I add the carbs back in the diet. It’s kind of crazy seeing some definition in my midsection as I’ve always been on the heavy side. I’ll keep near 250 for a while to make a new “set point” for weight (my previous was about 280) before starting a slow bulk again.
PS: Apologies in advance if the pic shows up huge. This is my first time loading a photo.
^^^Love it DD- nice blend of strength, flexibility, power, athleticism and some guts

197…that’s incredible.
I remember some older pics where you were looking soft and now you look terrific. Great job.

Ya, been slacking big time… It’s good to see everyone progress though.

Good work. Please get some steel toes or composites. Only a matter of time before you break something in a foot. Accidents happen.

I think I’ve actually seen more gruesome injuries because of steel toes on the stones. The stone crushes the cap into the foot.
I have contemplated switching to boots just to make myself taller though.

Eh, I guess I’ll post to show I’m still lifting.
Full disclosure - my basement lighting makes my rather mediocre physique look better than it actually is. But it’s where I work out and thus, where I take progress pictures.
