Pineapples are oviously the work of the devil.

I wonder what his reaction was when he first seen a vagina

Makes sense, I just don’t really feel the need to let everyone know what my beliefs are. I have the right to believe and people have the right to not have to hear me preach it.

Modern day farmed bananas are a result of man.

Those first bananas that people knew in antiquity were not sweet like the bananas we know today, but were cooking bananas or plantain bananas with a starchy taste and composition. The bright yellow bananas that we know today were discovered as a mutation from the plantain banana by a Jamaican, Jean Francois Poujot, in the year 1836.

He found this hybrid mutation growing in his banana tree plantation with a sweet flavor and a yellow colorâ??instead of green or red, and not requiring cooking like the plantain banana. The rapid establishment of this new exotic fruit was welcomed worldwide, and it was massively grown for world markets.

Anyone else hoping this thread isn’t merged with the “The Deal with Anal” thread?

harden up, that’s what god would want

I thought it was a joke at first, until I realized the guy to the right was Kirk Cameron. Religious logic at its finest

I actually think the “Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People” argument is valid and worth addressing. Believers usually dismiss it with the idea of free will, but then they fail to follow the logic through. It usually goes something like this:

If god is omniscient, omnipotent, and benevolent, how can he allow suffering to happen?

The evil in this world is due to men exercising their free will, it is not caused by God.

But what about all the horrible tragedies caused by the earth itself, which god is supposed to have created? Why do earthquakes, plagues, and famines happen?

Ummm, it is a test for the victims to teach them to love and worship God.

How much is an infant going to learn when it dies in a still birth?

Errr…the ways of God are mysterious and it is not for us to question our Creator!!!

Forget Kirk Cameron, I would like to know what Boner and Stinky Sullivan have to say about creation vs. evolution.

How the hell did you find out about Dr. Struwwelpeter?

It’s one of the most awesome children’s books ever.

Yeah but he is from my state in the US and we dont have him here, i only know because i happened to be in france during a Dr. Struwwelpeter convention.[/quote]

I’m of Swiss german heritage and I still have nightmares from childhood I believe formed from the Struwwelpeter Mythos. My mother raised us all (me and my sisters) on it and so I too will raise my kids on it too one day.

Yes, I used the term Mythos. 2nd only to Cthulu, and just as badass as a kid.

There have been some very interesting comments and compelling arguments made on the behalf of those that do not belive in god in this thread. I can not begin to adequately articulate my side of this as I am not as practiced as those that have already spoken. And, quite honestly, a logical discussion on this matter, in this forum, is about as likely to happenas me winning the lottery without buying a ticket. However, I will say this. I believe.

The probability that you and everything around was created by a big bang is about the same probability that a dictionary would be the result of an explosion at a priting factory.
Author is known, I just can’t remember. I also paraphrased it so much that the point may be missed as well.

The probability of you and everything around you being poofed into existence by a sky fairy on the other hand - totally logical. You’re proposing the 747 gambit.

And the point of the big bang is that it is speculated to be the catalyst for creating the universe in its current iteration. We don’t know what was there before, we can barely understand the concept of space and time as it is.

That said, feel free to believe, as long as you don’t try to “convert” or discriminate against people who aren’t you - then you’re alright by me.

I thought of many ways to respond to your comments; including not responding at all. But since I have read so many of your posts in other forums (adn enjoyed them) I thought I would keep the conversation going.

Here were some of my thoughts even though most were not the best. I was not offended by your comments and surely hope you are not offended by mine:
About the logic of God…“This dance isn’t for everybody; only the sexy people.” -Funny, but not quite right. The funny thing about faith is that there is no logic required and most of the time it just get’s in the way of letting your heart lead you. The last sentence does not have to apply to god - you can apply it to your significant other as well.
You said “feel free to believe…” Gee, dad, thanks for your permission. All this time I was doing it behind your back afraid of what you’d think. -Again, funny but with too much sarcasm. It may also leave me open to attack by those who would call me a bigot or something.
You said “dont try to convert”…It really is a painless process, most people actually report feeling better - You should try it. -I can’t help but find this funny. I hope I am not alone here.
You said “as long as you don’t…discriminate against people who aren’t you…” I only discriminate against people who aren’t YOU because I like you so much. -Honestly, not funny at all. In my defense though there really was nothing to work with there and I think you were trying to say that I “should not descriminate against non-belivers”. Again, nothing to say but that I do my best not to descriminate against anyone for anything. Profiling, however, Is a good thing. -I tried to be a little funny there but think I was just a little out of the zone. Some umpires will call it a strike, some wont.
Lastly,
I find it hard to fathom that no one pointed out my avatar. It’s as bad as PMPM’s little girl avatar when her language is colorful.

Peace Mak,
John
