Depends who you ask.

Christian religions 1:
Everyone is going to hell that doesn’t belong to my particular religion, including other so-called Christians who don’t share my particular interpretation of our holy book.

Christian religions 2:
Everyone that believes in Jesus will be saved, even if they don’t belong to my particular religion. Everyone else, no matter how much good they do, will be forever damned.

Christian religions 3:
Everyone that follows the principle of love taught by Jesus will be saved, even if they don’t currently understand that he is their Savior and the origin of the good they do. People who practice hate, regardless of whether or not they recognize Jesus, will be damned.

All believe in the same holy book, yet they disagree vehemently on what is actually required for salvation, because they all interpret it differently. It’s about faith, after all, but if someone’s faith leads them to a contradictory conclusion, that is only because it is a “false” faith.

This is what you get when you encourage people to believe in what they want to be true, instead of having reliable, repeatable evidence for what actually is true.
This was explained to you maybe 3 times. Human beings are flawed. Just as there are different interpretations to the constitution, but I don’t see anyone blaming our forefathers. Nor do people run around trying to say that the US constitution has no merit - Well some on the far left do that, but I’m talking about relevant Americans.
FAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.

Zeb, please stop making posts like the above, its impossible to take you seriously.
Come on, it’s not like disagreements about minor issues like the eternal welfare of your soul matter all that much. Who cares if you belong to Christian group 3, and end up suffering eternal damnation because the believers in Christian Group 1 got it right?

What you’re saying once again is that people can misinterpret a writing. And if you recall I’ve schooled you in this thought process on prior occasions. Once more, there is free will, none of this is pre programmed into your noggin. You are free to choose (just as you have chosen) to either believe or not. Even within the context of belief you are free to choose.

Once again human beings are flawed and they will only ever see part of the picture. I know as I post this to you that I have not even come close to grasping the full meaning of the holy scripture. I do however understand that God judges the heart (Samuel 16:7). Sometimes I think your hate blinds you to the truth (Luke 6:39-40) and then you really can’t see anything can you?

Please explain specifically why you disagree with.

Thank you,

I can’t respect you when you need to add in sophmoric jabs at people who dont share your political views.

“Nobody is that stupid… EXCEPT FOR THOSE DAMN LIBERALS BUT THEY DONT MATTER LAWLS”

Yup, forlife. Your hate blinds you to the truth, because what Zeb believes is the truth and if you dont agree you must be full of something bad, like hate.

If you were just a better person (less full of hate) you’d see that Zeb is right.

Why cant you just be good enough to see how right Zeb is?

…and people ask me why I want to stab most christians with a fork.

Glad that point slipped past you. I’ll explain and try to type s l o w e r for you. Christians always get typed as being closed minded. Yet, free wheeling atheist lefty’s like you and your buddy forlife get a free pass. Now why is that since you guys are just as entrenched in your thought process as we Christians allegedly are? Gee I think I know the answer.

My guess is because you’re full of hate. Want the passage again?

But…the Christians in group 1 say Zeb is going to hell because he doesn’t belong to their particular religion and the Christians in group 3 say Zeb is going to hell because of his hatred toward those who disagree with him, so for his sake I’m hoping the Christians in group 2 have some super secret evidence that makes them right and the other Christian groups wrong.

But… don’t you get it?

Zeb is right… so, he can’t be wrong.

The logic is right there for you to grasp!

I’m full of irritation, not hate.

And, we’re actually much less entrenched in our beliefs because we look at EV-I-DENCE and dismiss nonsense as just that.

You believe in a magical book about talking snakes and fruit that can grant knowledge, four faced six winged creatures, people with superhuman strength who lose that strength when you cut off their hair, sticks being turned into snakes, men walking on water and parting seas, people talking to animals and flying.

All of these things are (read this a few times till it sinks in) really. fucking. stupid. to. believe.

My favorite was on this very site when Pushharder posited that the Genesis myth (which claims plants were created before the sun and is impossible because plants cant exist without the sun) is more plausible because its impossible… that God made plants before the sun to “refute claims that Genesis is a metaphor”

Your defense of believing in nonsense is that, if you don’t, you’ll get in trouble for it. And that everybody else who doesnt believe in the same nonsense will get in trouble, too.

Or they must be bad people, who are full of hate. Or other character attacks.

Simple fact is I’m not stupid. If you believe that a man caused a sea to part by lifting his arms in front of it, you are. If you believe a man could speak to animals, you are. If you believe eating the fruit of a magical tree could grant you immortality, you are.

But Capped, the fact that all those things are impossible is what makes them miracles! Thats exactly what gives us faith!
CappedAndPlanIt wrote:

Yeah I understand every time you are irritated you want to stab people with forks. Sort of like how inmates feel when their food is not up to par. I get it now.

Sometimes your evidence is nonsense. And occasionally you will not look at facts if they do not line up with your preconceived ideas - That is called CLOSED MINDED.

I believe in the Hole Bible and God’s word. If you understood (even a tiny bit) about God you would also understand that God can do anything. If he can create the universe he can certainly do all of the things that you doubt above. But that speaks to faith and you have none. And on top of that you will entertain no other evidence that relates to it. I get it.

Yes, I hear the creaking door of your mind close. I get it.

Through God all things are possible - And plants were made under Gods power and light. This being created the universe you think a few plants would give him a problem? Oh I know you’re just sooooo intellectual you just don’t buy it. Read the scriptures about the end times, it speaks specifically about people like you. No you really should - Too closed minded?

Why would I think people like you are full of hate? Just because you want to stab me with a fork because I disagree with you? Naaaaaw…

No you’re not stupid. Hateful, closed minded and over the top on occasion - YES.
If you believe that a man caused a sea to part by lifting his arms in front of it, you are. If you believe a man could speak to animals, you are. If you believe eating the fruit of a magical tree could grant you immortality, you are.
And if you discount a 2000 year old religion that has been accurately handed down from each generation (the Bible is far more accurate than any other ancient document) then you’re closed minded. If you think that the apostles went VOLUNTARILY to their horrible deaths for a lie closed minded again! If you think that the world created itself closed minded. If you think that every archeological dig which proves the Bible accounts as fact are wrong you are really closed minded again (and perhaps stupid as well). If you think that the Dead Sea scrolls matching perfectly with accounts of the modern day Bible are coincidence you are once again busy swallowing atheist propaganda and shutting yourself off from the only truth there is!

I could go on but what’s the point. Neither of us will change the mind of the other. Someday you will stand before a God who will judge your words, beliefs and actions and then you’ll know. And if you don’t open your mind before that eventuality, from the bottom of my heart I am sorry for you.

Oh and happy fantasies of stabbing me with a fork.

How nice you atheists are, I guess you’re right you don’t need a God to be moral (cough).

lol Zeb. You’re silly.

You’re right, though. Nobody is going to get you to consider things like rationality and logic and reason when the foundation of your belief is a magical sky wizard that defies rationality, logic, and reason.

Since Sky Wizard can do anything, pointing out the impossibility of things in the bible wont change your belief - it just proves Sky Wizard can do anything!

I want to poke Christians with a really hot french fry because, like you, they use circular logic to validate their belief in what any rationally thinking person dismisses as pure nonsense. Thats why you irritate me, Zeb.

Also, all your claims about the bible being accurately recorded through generations are completely false. The bible has been modified numerous times and different translations produce widely different scriptures.

But you’re not going to let a little thing like different bibles having different words in them distract you from your false claims that every bible is the pure impeccable unadulterated word of Sky Wizard, are you?

If you selectively choose what evidence you wish to accept, then you have no right to engage in a serious debate with anyone about this. If you choose to ignore fossil records showing that man evolved from apes while clutching to archeological digs that support stories in the Bible (but by no means proving that any of it’s central claims are true) then you have no right to say other people are closed minded.
CappedAndPlanIt wrote:

Backing off from the fork I see. Yeah that french fry looks better. I get it.

I irritate you because I believe there is a God and he sent his one and only son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and I accept his great sacrifice on my behalf. That’s why you hate me and that’s why, someday, maybe in the not too distant future people like you will in fact kill people like me. I get it, read the Bible and you’ll get it too.

Don’t tell me…don’t tell me…another atheist right? WOW, this place is rotten with foreign atheists lately (not that you’re foreign).

I’d say I’m agnostic, actually.

Ah, close enough

This is where your closed mindedness keeps you from the truth. The Dead Sea scrolls when compared to the modern Bible are spot on!

And the only ancient document which is as accurate as the Bible is Homer’s writings “The New Testament is by far the most accurately reconstructed ancient document. It passes the bibliographic test with flying colors.”
