Do you not have any solid connections with any higher ups that can let you know which way the wind is blowing?
If you had say a 90 percent certainty you were going to be fired, you could resign then when asked in the future you could honestly say you’ve never been terminated from a job.

Update: Had the final “chat” with HR & the GM. I’m pretty happy to say that I haven’t been fired. I’ve been transfered to a new site in a different country & I’ve lost my built-up holidays, can’t complain. They stated that they were reluctant to fire me as they know I work hard, yet still had to issue a diciplinary action & took into account the malicious nature of the other guy. I also had people come forward & state that this other dude had been gloating in public about what he had been doing all along.

He’s already been shunned for this and I still have my job, in a much better location! All in all he lost out badly. This actually turned out in my favour.
I’m happy to hear that things worked out for you. They very easily could have worked against you in a bad way, though. I hope you keep this in mind moving forward, and use this experience to inform future decisions when you come to a difficult crossroads again.

Absolutely! I was full on preparing to be fired.
Overall it has been a learning experience. It’s simply not worth hitting someone, things could have turned out MUCH worse than they did.

Absolutely no offense intended, but have you ever had problems with venting your anger inappropriately in the past? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. If so, maybe personal counseling or becoming a part of an anger management group would be helpful. I’ve had other types of issues that I’ve needed help to overcome and those kinds of intervention can be helpful.
If nothing else, this will be a motivator to exercise your brain and increase your will power, as you devise ever more insidious methods of attrition and psychological warfare to destroy your enemy.

OP…I followed this thread from day one. I’m glad it worked out for you. When someone is such a perfect asshole it’s not hard to find another who feels the same about him.
