Michigan looked pretty good against Indiana today, or Indiana made Michigan look good. Either way its a win?

We’ve has 40 passing yards combined in our last 2 games…

Squat (camber bar)- bar(65)x10, x10, 115x8, 155x5, 205x5, belt on 245x5, 295x5, 315x5, 335x5 PR, 335 3x3
Deficit deadlift- 225x3, 315x3, 365x5 PR, 385x2

Done. Squats felt really good even with the camber bar. Thing made you get tight or youll shake like a mofo. I think if the bar makes it harder it counts as a PR, so boom. Felt strong on these. Did not feel like deadlifting after this, and Clay had us do a 5 then doubles. Did one double after and called it. 385 felt way harder then it should have. 365 felt pretty good, had another 2-3 in me. Good session, gonna hit assistance tonight with pooper.

Warmed up soft tissue and dynamics

Press- barx10, 75x8, 95x5, 115x5, 135x3, 150x9 PR
Push Press- 185x1, 195x1, 205x1 ties PR, 215x1 PR, 225x1 PR
Press- 135x11 PR
Lat pulldown- 140 4x12
Facepull- 80 4x15

Took 40 minutes. Press felt pretty good, was really focused this workout. Doing less volume this week as a slight deload. Just main movement and back stuff. Wanted the 10th rep but quit on the rep. I think I could ahve grinded it out but I went full cock. Push press killed my previous PR’s, felt real strong and aggressive. Got 2 plates overhead finally. Pumped. Press volume for one more set and hit a PR, never tried to get mroe than 10 before, coulda done 12. Pulldowns were somewhat challenging, but still got a good squeeze and got them all, prolly PR but meh. Facepulls killed dat uppa back homes. Damn good session, such focus, much wow.

Warmed up with soft tissue and dynamics

Squat- barx10, 95x5, 135x5,185x5, 225x5, 255x3, 275x10 PR
Paused (2s)- 225 4x4

Took 35 minutes. Keeping the lessened assistance work going. Liking the workload, feeling more focused on that specific movement. Squats felt good today, hitting depth and tried to focus on stabilizing at the top of each rep. Tried to limit breathing at the top and go at squats, felt good but so winded at the end. Paused were good, not irritating the hip flexor as much since I started doing more ass warming up and hip flexor stretching. Good session.

Warmed up with soft tissue and dynamics

Bench- barx10, 95x10, 135x8, 185x5, 225x3, 245x6 PR, 225x8
Spoto press (1s pause)- 185 2x6
Rows- 140 4x12
Facepulls- 80 4x15

Took 40 minutes. Bench felt pretty good, didnt have a lift off today because I was not at Detroit Barbell today. Makes setup even mroe important, got real tight. Hit a PR without a spotter, had another rep in me. Wanted 10 on 225 but triceps were suprisingly done already. Spotos kicked my ass, wanted to hit 8s on these. Rows felt meh, didnt get much of a squeeze. Facepulls burned like a mofo. Pretty good session, other than the PR, the rest was very bland. No video today either cuz I was lifting alone.

Warmed up with soft tissue and dynamics

Squats- barx10, 95x5, 135x5, 185x5, belt on 225x3, 275x3, 295x2, 315x2, 345 3x3 PR! (heaviest triple)
Hyper- BW+ mini band and 50 pounds 3x10
Leg extension- 100 3x15

Took like an hour. Squats felt pretty good from the start. Belt felt awkward warming up and walking it out cuz I normally am in the monolift at Detroit Barbell. Big Relentless meet yesterday, so nothing was back in the gym. Relentless was awesome to see as well. Previous heaviest triple was 335, hit 345 and did 3 sets with it. Pretty happy with the form. Like 2-3 werent the best, but I am pretty pleased at how I kept my form for how heavy it was. Then did some hypers cuz I didnt feel like deadlifting and leg extensions lightly for some quads. Good session, big squat PR.

Warmed up with soft tissue and dynamics

Press-barx10, 75x5, 95x5, 115x5, 135x3, 150x2, 160x7 PR
Push press- 185x6 PR
Press- 135x8
Lat pulldown- 150x12, x12, x10, x8
Incline db bench- 70x17, x12
Rows- 150x12, x12, x10, x8
Facepulls- 80 4x15
Curls 2x10

Took like 85 minutes. Press felt off warming up, got a PR but it felt meh. Wanted eight, ill take it. Push press was easy but I didnt kepp going cuz I felt a little over arched. Lat pulldowns were a good weight, challenging but I need to keep the rest shorter. Bench was good, gonna keep hitting high reps for these. Rows were too heavy, I started heaving it, need to lower it and get that squeeze. Facepulls burned, fuck biceps. Needed to take lesss rest overall on assistance work, waited like 3+ minutes i think. Need more density.

2 Press PR’s in 1 session? Where’d you get all deez gainz from?

Well, I dont push press for high reps often so it was pretty easy on that one.

Warmed up with dynamics and soft tissue

Squat-barx15, 95x5, 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 255x3, 275x3, 315x1, 295x8 PR
Paused (5s pause)- 225 3x3
Stiff leg deadlifts- 225 2x8
Bulgarian lunge- 50 2x12e

Took like an hour. Squats felt like ass warming up, just felt all over the place. Did 315 just to overwarmup. 295 felt easy once I start, think I coulda hit another 2 easy. 4th rep was the hardest of the 8 oddly enough. Paused squats were fucking hard with that long of a pause. Did breathing ones on the last two sets and those killed my quads and trunk. Mainly quads, dey need work playa. Stiffys killed my hams and lower back. Did two sets, tried setting it on the ground between. Felt good after the first few reps getting the form. Used to RDL, so these are a little different. By this time I didnt feel like lunging so I did two quick sets a leg and called it. Good session, squats felt like shit then turned good. PR every session dammit.

Nice squats dawg

Tanks sir csulli.

What are you going to do to address your quad weakness?

[quote]Loftearmen wrote:

Great question, I was doing leg press but that was annoying the knee, was gonna try lunges even though I hate them. Need to find something that doesnt annoy the knee, might also do long paused squats, those killed the quads. Would like to hear which sounds best.

Warmed up with soft tissue and dynamics

Press- barx10, 75x5, 95x5, 115x5, 135x3, 155x3, 170x5 PR!, 185x2 PR!, 135x10
Rows- 120 4x12 paused
Facepulls- 80 4x12

Took like 40 minutes, gotta open tomorrow morning so didnt take long, got the big lift then quick assistance. Press felt damn good, previous best at 170 was 3, hit it for 5. Like 9.5 rpe. 185 for a double, first rep got over extended, second was better. Back stiff after that set for a minute but its great now. Then one backoff set with a controlled eccentric. Rows got a great squeeze with the pause, really felt the back working. Facepulls felt good. Good quick session.

I think paused, atg front squats would be the most appropriate but obviously that is only true if they don’t bother your knee. High bar, narrow stance paused squats would be another option. Both of these would work best in oly shoes with a raised heel to help get your quads more involved.

Walking Lunges are good too but I don’t think they would have as much carry over as squat variations would.

I think paused front or back squats sound like a good plan. Thanks for the feedback!

Was curious what sets and reps youd recommend.
