Thats not how things work. take it from someone who was bullied in school. The moment you fight back and especially if you do any damage, like mark them up, they will stop. bullies like to pick on kids that don’t fight back. once you fight back, it ends. plus, you build a reputation for yourself as a badass and people will think twice about messing with you.

This was certainly my experience, back in the 80s. My parents made it clear they would punish me if I did not stand up to bullies. I learned that by their nature, bullies fear anyone who fights back.
Maybe that is too Karate Kid, but then again that was the 80s. Could be different today, at least with street gangs in urban areas. I was in small town suburbia but assholes are assholes just the same. They need to be put in their place.

Once that happens your bluff is called.

There are ways to deal with bullies. If you have a good family with means. My family are very protective. and would not tolerate violence against us. we would react with extreme emotion. Lets just say, I live in a big italian family and we don’t like being disprespected. and if one of our family members is hurt, those people will pay.
I don’t know, but if I was a kid and got bullied in HS or middle school and got my dad to go scare the bully I would think I would be ostracized and bullied even more.

Coming from an Italian family as well, I understand what Vamp is saying. However, you’re discussing an entirely different community. Yeah, my uncles and cousins think the same way I do, and are all about that whole “if someone disrespects you, you hurt them.” But in reality, children today are spoiled, entitled, narcissistic. They did not receive proper beatings or get enough hugs and they’re not in touch with their origins. You can say “a bully is a bully” all you want, but the reality is that a group of 16-year-olds who feel tough will not fear a father, a cop, their parents, cameras, or anything else, regardless of how impressive that person is.
I’m a very aggressive person (not always in a bad way) because of how I grew up, but all that means is if I got beaten up by a group of people, I would be angry and do something else to hurt them. They will not stop just because they know I have friends or know how to fight or am willing to fight back. They obviously did it for a reason. If the small asian kid had been a 300lb linebacker, they would have just used weapons. If someone attacks in a group and the person fights back, emotions and pride escalate, and no one stops because no one wants to be the one to stop. Aggression in groups and individuals develop very differently, and when they start thinking together vs. one-on-one, logic is never used.
Unfortunately, the idea of respect that ethnic homes usually teach sucks nowadays. It sucked when I was a kid too, but only for the rich kids. My family didn’t slack off like them.
