Asian Girls

DAN C:

Apparently you do not realize what you said. You stated that stereotypes are fantasies. Stereotypes are not fantasies. They’re the product of ignorance and laziness on people’s part so that they don’t have to think and assess their environment. That’s what I find offensive or plain stupid.

I think it’s FINE to fantasize all you want. But it’s another thing to stereotype. And I do not believe I generalized. Rather I was making a point.

I’m not particular. I like what I call exotic but in my book that means striking white women as well. That’s usually not the definition of exotic though. I do have to say that mixed/interracial women are sometimes more striking and obviously different and I find that attractive but more so alluring. In the last month I have found myself attracted to petite phillapinos, latinas, some very tough and buff white women, a red headed italian woman… I’m sure there are more different types. I really don’t think about what she is though when I find myself attracted to her. I just think, “Dam I hope she has a brain too and we can jump in the sack later.” I did realize recently that most of my girlfriends had green eyes though… evil green eyed devils!

I too fit into the category of no preference.

One of my Canadian girl friends here accused me of being in Korea and only wanting to date Korean chicks (as many foreigners do) to which I replied,

“If you go to an Italian restaurant, do you order Canadian food???”

Not trying to be rude here but it’s gonna sound that way anyways so here goes - most foreign chicks here are, shall we say, ‘thick’ and I do not find them attractive so of course a small framed, hot Korean girl is gonna turn my head faster. But put me back in Toronto and I have absolutely no preference. If a girl is cute, takes care of herself, and has a sense of humour, I don’t care what race, religion, or ethnic background she is.

STELLA: Stereotypes are actually very useful for one thing: weeding out stupid people.

If people react to you based on ‘in their head only’ views (stereotypes) it allows you to weed them out real quick, whether they contact you or not.

Since everyperson is unique, the lazy fuck who takes mental shortcuts and puts everybody in the same category before knowing them (or analyzing their actions and patterns for some time) is just further displaying his trademark stupidity (and shallowness of perception and mind).

By acting this way, they prevent you from finding out by trail and error (and time invested) what they really are. And, warned, who would be stupid enough to expect that things will be different? It’s an operating system. Since it processes information all wrong, in a biased way, why should it be different for different and/or important matters? Specially when they’ve given you proof beyond doubt right at the beginning…

Why’d you need them (stereotypers), anyway? And if they are that stupid, why bother listening to them? It’s not like they had accurate thinking or attention to your individuality in mind at start, anyway… So why care about them? Serve them the same dish: ignorance. For a real waste of time, try changing them.

haha, Stella, you told me when you were in Portland that you are “skeptical” of “white boys” when we say we eat good Korean food.

now that’s a stereotype!

my taste buds are just fine, thank you very much.

oh, and my ex-girlfriend of 4 years, who was Korean, would have stabbed some of you for the awful shit you have said in this thread.

coolcolj nice pic.

i think you people are taking stereo typing names way too seriously. no one has used this one yet, but what about jungle fever? i dont hear african americans getting all bent over the term. chit it’s even used in movies.
lighten up! i have never heard the term yellow fever used to mean you like asians, but on a serious note i thought yellow fever was used to describe a sickness/disease like jondis(sp) or something like that. in a hurry watch for spelling.

After reading most of the posts on this thread, I can see how this could easily be offensive. Saying things like “asian girls do this or that” is just silly. I hope that Stella and Patricia or anyone else out there doesn’t think that all men who are attracted to asian women do so because they have some stereotype of asian women. I honestly don’t think that is true. Of course, there are some who do, but for me, the attraction is simply physical and irrational. If there is some stereotype that triggers it or some deep psychological cause, I am unaware of it.

People come up with all sorts of reasons why this trend exists in a small amount of the white male population, but I think the theories are a bunch of crap. I’m an empiricist, and since nobody has produced any controlled experiments to demonstrate the cause of this preference, I can’t really say much about it.

That being said, it is a real phenomenon, and an interesting one at that. I’ll admit it, I have yellow fever. But, honestly, I wish I could find a cure. It always seems like it comes off as offensive, and I hate that. Sorry if my posts came off that way.

Just had to get that out, carry on.

Phaedrus

Actually, it’s “jaundice” (from the French root “jaune”, meaning yellow…).

Something that there’s been a lot of on this thread.

My friends and I have discussed this many drunken nights, and we’ve come to the conclusion that KUNG FU THEATER on Sunday mornings on the USA channel corrupted all of us in the mid 1980s.

Stella - if you will re-read my first post, I said that many girls HERE (Korea) are too demanding and have princess complex. I did NOT say all, not even most, nor did I generalize all Asian women as such. Read a little more carefully before you start pointing fingers.

And on stereotypes - “white guys”??? Not French guys, or English guys, or Swiss, but “white guys”. How much more of a generalization can you get than that? I’m done.

What is it about Black chicks that make me wanna? hit it doggy style?

What is it about White girls that make me wanna? include their sister?

WTF?? Is this thread for real? Listen! I dunno if this whole ‘Sinophile’ thread is just a passing fad by the majority of the white boys here? This whole ‘I wanna have a Asian girl’ attitude is very SAD!

Our culture and our women are not some passing fashion. To you it may not seem offensive, since the thread here seems to be celebrating what you think is ‘beautiful’ about Asian women, but it is. In the past, I’ve had to physically beat the living crap out of some of you white boys who have tried it on with my sisters, and my ex’s, because they had been infected with ‘yellow fever’ and were persistent about pursuing them.

How about going out with someone because you actually like them, rather than because you’re just so damn curious on whether or not you can break them in half!

I apologize if this post sounds ‘troll like’, but judging from what I’ve read so far, i just don’t see the point in putting in the effort, 'cos it’s obvious that you’ve already made your mind up.

Oh yeah! FUCK YOU.

Fuck you too pal. Not all of us give a shit if a person that we are dating is of a different ethnic background than we are. If you like her, and she’s good to you and vice versa, then who gives a fuck?? No one should. Read my posts on this topic, and you’ll find out I could give a shit less if I dated a person of any ethnic background. In fact, I’ve dated many many ethnic backgrounds, and frankly it doesn’t matter.

Still, LOWRYDER just HAD TO not only check this thread out but reply to it.

hint: we’re men, we have dicks, and we talk about girls we’d like to fuck. It’s very simple.

There. That any better?

And Patricia dear - Just because we’re talking about asian chicks, it doesnt mean we’re referring to you.

Much the same way if we were talking about muscular women who can deadlift, we wouldnt be referring to you.

If we had you in mind we’d spell your name out. It just seems that for someone who doesnt give a shit, you seem to get pretty wound up in threads about general things.

Just my opinion.

Rumbach - Alas, almost always when someone not of Asian descent recommends Asian restaurants, they turned out to be less than great. It’s rather unfortunate, but true. But of course, you’re very much enlightened.

Big Willie - Let’s see…my post wasn’t really directed at you, but I guess something in there really bothered you, huh? You weren’t the only one who said Korean girls are crazy, etc. And I couldn’t care less who said it, it’s the general attitude of the thread itself.

And unless you tell me what you are, how am I supposed to know if you’re French, German, etc.? Your logic’s a bit screwy, isn’t it?

DIESEL23: Amen!

Has this thread tried to reinforce stereotypes? Yes, but who cares? You think this thread is going to change anybody’s mind about stereotypes? And to those who are offended. Who cares if you’re offended. Lighten up.

Diesel, Peternf: Thank you both for those last little entries.

PETERNF: Stereotypes are like rumors: They have a life of their own. Fighting them makes only things worse. They also easily take root in their ‘fertile’ soil of stupid minds and are very hard, if at all possible, to unroot.

What is it called when you’re cynical to a group of people, because of what you’ve experienced from a small few?
