Ashwangandha

I have a thread in the Biotest Supp forum regarding supplements to help reduce inflammation, decrease estrogen and increase test.
Throughout my research I have found that stress lowers T-levels and increases inflammation so I was thinking of including Biotest’s Rhodiola to the arsenal. In researching that product I found another similar herb based supplement called Ashwangandha.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever used this sup, what their experience was, and what kind they believe is the best.

Thanks in advance

The best anti depressant is exercise. It is also one way to rest Test.

You also failed to mentioned that you do not exercise and your diet is crap. You also mentioned that your last blood test had results in line.

You are looking for the magic pill while ignoring what is in front of you.

I wish you good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Ashwagandha is great IF you have some stress issues that you simply CANNOT avoid. The mouth breather arguments “(chortle snort chortle) why not isolate the stressors in your life instead of trying to cover them up by going the herbal route” does not apply to some who genuinely live in a medium to high-stress environment.

I went through a somewhat rough patch 2013-2014 while applying for tenure due to a series of (proven false) allegations in addition to a host of family-related issues outside my control. Taking the standard dosage of the herb regularly allowed me to keep my sanity, maintain my gym strength (even set PRs in some movements), maintain my sexual performance, and stay productive as the principal investigator with a team consisting of one other person (a junior researcher).

Exercise itself does release endorphins as the previous poster said and what i posted earlier does not apply to the majority of teen and twenty somethings shelling hundreds of mama and papa’s dollars on supplements “thinking” they’re on the receiving end of the giant shaft of life.

So yeah, Ashwagandha works - but its a sedative in moderate to large dosages.

Rhodiola is a different adaptogen. Horses for courses.

"Ashwagandha is an Adaptogen. It is supplemented primarily for its ability to prevent anxiety. Ashwagandhaâ??s anti-anxiety effect is even synergistic with alcohol. It also shows promise for relieving insomnia and stress-induced depression. Ashwagandha can significantly reduce cortisol concentrations and the immunosuppressive effect of stress.

Beyond reducing stress levels, ashwagandha can improve physical performance in both sedentary people and athletes, as well as reduce Low-density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Ashwagandha can improve the formation of memories, and may be able to treat Alzheimerâ??s disease, though more human evidence is needed before supplementation can be recommended specifically for Alzheimerâ??s."

I’ve used both and prefer Ashwagandha to RR. In large doses Ashwagandha makes me itchy for some reason.

I understand what you’re saying. It’s hard to jump off one train and onto another…yanno?

Ive actually “megadosed” it on occasion when shit really hit the roof and then walked around all day in a semi zombified “unfeeling” state. It felt great as I could literally weave through people and situations humming along without giving a fuck.
I wouldn’t recommend it.

I know…I’m working on it, kinda lost at the moment.

Ashwagandha, besides being a thyroid adaptogen, will actually lower prolactin levels in men. For those who don’t know, prolactin is the hormone secreted post ejaculation that causes a man to lose his erection. Now, prolactin is inversly related to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH). This means that as prolactin goes down, GnRH gows up. The significance of this is that GnRH has a testosterone boosting effect on the body. GnRH is sent to the pituitary gland telling it to increase luteinizing hormone (LH) production. LH is then sent from the pituitary to the testes with one simple message, PRODUCE TESTOSTERONE. So as you can see, ashwagandha can directly increase testosterone production via a boost in precursor hormones.

How to fix my diet. What’s wrong with my diet, what is causing the issues I’m having. Do I detox, or no? Do I fast, or no? Do I eat whatever I want and worry about the stress aspect or no? Why am I sluggish 95% of the day? Why am I so overly emotional, why can’t I think straight, why, why why.

A serious question to the OP: are you a virgin i.e. have you ever had sex? If so, how often and when was the last time you were intimate with a woman (not referring to jacking off to porn)

because you eat like shit. What’s the confusion? Stop eating like shit and feel better.

Detoxing, fasting, blah blah blah. You’re just trying to rationalise not doing anything by making out like it’s this mega complicated thing when it’s really not.

Eat plants and dead animals, and lift weights. Quit bitchin’, get liftin’.

Not a virgin. last time I was with a woman was about 8 days ago. Why do you ask?

Good stuff. So you’re not a loner/virgin, and that changes everything.

Now, when you say nothings working right are you referring to your libido/sexual performance or gym performance or both. Here’s the link: your hormonal health could dictate your gym performance as a natural lifter, but as a general oversimplified rule, if you have a good solid sex drive and frequent or even occasional morning wood, everything’s “working properly” hormonally so to speak and herbal supplementation isn’t going to make any difference to your T levels. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Bupkes.

Outside of T levels, GH and IGF levels could always be improved and that’ll probably make some difference to your gym performance and physique. But following a program and tracking your intake is going to yield far richer dividends.

So how about you list out exactly whats wrong. Details. Feel free to add training and diet info. Add training age and strength in basic lifts. Finally, some pics may be useful.

Go see someone. Not an MD, psychiatrist.

And stop looking for an answer on the internet.
