Asbestos Found in Chinese Made Cars

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/08/15/australia-finds-asbestos-in-chinese-built-cars-prompts-recall

“…Chery spokesman told the news agency that the automaker made a mistake, building the cars with a batch of parts that were not intended for use in export cars.”

Not only are they cheap on parts/material, but they are also cheap on spokesman as well…

wait so they new that there was asbestos in the materials but they wanted those parts only to be used for exported vehicles?

It’s like the Chinese automatically put poison on everything. Fucking idiots.

I’ll bet if you buy rat poison there it’s 100% table sugar.

Damn those chineese are cheap and sneaky. Putting asbestos in their own cars when it’s clearly not safe?? I wonder what other short cuts they have been taking…

Because it’s a very useful substance, heat resistant and cheap.
Whats also worrying is that Canada exports more than $100 million of the stuff a year mostly to underdeveloped countries such as India.

Why worry?

If you know its in there and you want it, good for you.

This stuff is nasty only if breathed in, which might be a problem for people dismantling the cars and noone else.

Lets just face facts. The reason so much shit is made in China is cause its a communist factory state. They make any rules they want and just get the shit made. Its done cheap and the rules are more relaxed than in North America and Europe. So you get lead in kids toys and asbestos in cars. It should not surprise anyone. Welcome to globalization and the exploitation of other cultures for profit so we can buy cheap shit and some suit can have a summer home.

You should write a thank you letter to the factory camps where those kids make your athletic shoes you pay $200.00 for and the kid made $0.05 to make it. I am sure that would be good comfort for him/her to know when they get beaten for taken a piss break in a 18 shift.

Don’t cars age and slowly & gradually fall apart in Austria?

I doubt even you would claim that.[/quote]

Does not mean that you breathe it in.

If asbestos is a-ok according to their rules, let them.

They have bigger fish to fry than one more case of lung cancer in a 100000.

Like, building cheap reliable cars for the Chinese multitudes.

Of course it would be.

Because their alternative is not frolicking in the meadows but back breaking labor in a rice paddy or starvation.

They do not live in Kansas Dorothy, if they got offered a better alternative, they would take it.

For what its worth, manufacturing wages have been going up like crazy in China.

Want less kids to work 16 hour shifts in a rice field or blow people for money?

Buy Chinese.

In fact, demand that children had a part in building it.

There should be a sticker.

With all the jobs that are lost to China and our own fucked up economy guess that makes it all ok as long as we have cheap shit to buy with no money.

With no jobs what are our own kids going to do? Give blow jobs to Chinese tourists?

If you insist on making the US as unattractive for investors as possible any longer, possibly yes?

The bright side is, a few million Chinese and Indians are solidly middle class now, if that is any consolidation.

But, if what at least 50% of the American electorate thinks is true, there is no way that a bunch of disciplined, hard working, chain smoking engineers, chemists and physicists could possibly outperform the most sensitivity trained and politically correct liberal arts graduates there have ever been.

consolation, goddammit.

Who the fuck wants a Chinese car anyway?

See! I knew it! Canadians…pure evil. Must invade!

They said that about Japanese cars?

And about Korean ones?

Some of those I do want.

Japanese cars are awesome. The only people who don’t like Japanese cars are folks who watch nascar and get boners at family reunions.

Korean cars aren’t too shabby either. I test drove a Hyundai when the wife needed a new car and I was damn impressed. I bought her a VW instead, but that Hyundai was by no means a shitmobile. 10 year/100,000 mile warranty too.

Chinese cars though? China is good at making cheap crap. The high-end items they attempt to make are pretty fucked. They may start exporting more cars, and I’m sure some people will buy them, but I don’t think they are going to take over the automotive world.
