Arrested at the RNC

The real press here in MN have gone out of their way to praise how police have handled things. They had reporters arrested as well and, while they didn’t enjoy being arrested, they commented on how professional the police were and how fast they were processed.

Pay attention. He is incredibly rude.
You may be right, but he has never been rude to me

Ok…So, I’m watching a video where she has crossed over police lines. She’s told to get outside of the line. She refuses. An officer attempts to physically escort her, and she tries to resist being moved out of police lines.

So, um, what am I supposed to be outraged over? That she isn’t treated like queen big crap journalist?
Feel free to share the video.

And I have to ask: What was the police line delimiting? If it’s the RNC site, isn’t a journalist legally allowed access to it?

No. A journalist doesn’t have the magic key to the kingdom, allowing them access everywhere, uninvited. Property rights still exist. Plus, it was police lines she had pushed into, and then refused to leave, not the convention. Police lines give police an area to assemble, gather arrested folk, withdraw injured people to, etc. And no, media credentials don’t give you a free pass there, either.

"They pull me behind the police line, they forcibly pull my arms behind my back, put those very rigid plastic handcuffs on, and they force me to the ground, and they say, “You’re under arrest.”

Hah! They don’t just grab her and drag her in to arrest her. She’s already within police lines, being asked to leave! They go so far as to try and escort her out of police lines, when she does the “I’m planting my feet and not moving,” bit. Dead story, dead thread, and a lying journalist turned activist exposed.

looks pretty cut and dry to me.

I’m going to start calling myself a journalist so I have the right to ignore all these pesky police officers.

Cop: Sir, you have 3 dead hookers in your trunk.
Me: It’s okay, I’m a journalist. Now quit hindering me you fascist pig.

Charges have been dropped.
