Arnold for Governor..

First of all…Bill Maher is a dork. He typically lines up two or three liberals against one convservative on his stupid show and the liberals he gets are usually some idiot comedian who can’t even stay on issue and instead makes jokes the entire time to get the audience and the other people in the debate off topic. His show is irrelevant. Its fast food political sattire for the uninformed.

Yes,Lisa…I may not agree on all this social issues. I am not sure on all of them yet…but that potential exists. If he is prochoice…that would be the only area where I might disagree. But he is not making any new laws in this area so its really a non issue as far as how he would be involved in this.

I think so highly of Arnold because of how he built his body…his businesses…his brains…goal setting and drive. He came here with almost nothing…lived in a one bedroom apt. with Frank Zane and Franco…drove a VW Beetle…laid bricks and tore down chimneys with sledgehammers with Franco and has succeded when other people told him he would not! Anybody on this here website who cannot respect and recognize the greatness in a person like that shouldn’t be on here. He or she is NOT a real T-man or T-vixen!!!

“The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.”

“Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgement.”
Solomon…

I vote there be a Reality TV show for this campain and Recall (if the recall ever happens. See how politican really lives. I think that will make a great Reality TV show especailly the people we have for running California.

If you don’t live in California, your opinion this is pretty much meaningless to me. Those of us here have to live with the results of this mess.

Rant and rave all you want + live outside of California = my deaf ears.

The Bill Maher quote was there because it was funny, not because I’m a big Maher fan.

I thought the Daily Show had a pretty good take on it, too. Who puts the pipes in your house? If something goes wrong with them, who should you call? A plumber? Or someone with no plumbing experience who offers other solutions – potentially not involving pipes?

If Arnold was the most qualified candidate or at least the one with the best ideas, I wouldn’t have any trouble voting for him regardless of his party (and the fact that his father was a Nazi). Hell, if the Republican candidate in the last real election had been a good alternative to Davis, I would have voted for him (or her), too.

That he bootstrapped his way to success is a given, but that doesn’t necessarily translate to political acumen. Plenty of successful people don’t belong in politics. There’s always so much more to any success story.

If you think this whole thing is as simple as party lines (or T-manliness), you’re not paying attention.

If the Oak wants to inherit all the current problems of this state - then go right ahead. Problem is he doesn’t seem to grasp many of the issues in depth, but rather appears to be just a grab at another type of fame & power (yeah I know, that defines 102% of all politicians).

Matter of fact doing that job probably wouldn’t be much different that dealing with Hollywood producers & other such freaks.

All eyes would be on him like nobody else in this country’s history.

At least that adorable lil’ Gary Coleman has been stating that his running is symbolic of the ludicrous recall.

Its all quite symbolic of the American obsession with instant gratification, which all reading T-mag should be well aware of.

Didn’t lose those 80 lbs in 2 weeks? On to the next miracle diet!

The elected Guv couldn’t fix every problem? Hell, why wait until the next election, lets just ride him outa town on a Republican-stamped rail!

Davis sure as hell hasn’t been doing the best job but this is like one of those jokes you laugh at while thinking “am I the problem for laughing?”

I think Arnold is going to get lost in the whole fact that so many people are running for publicity.

From what I understand it only takes 100 signatures and $3500 to run?

What a joke

Why is it that some of you think being a politician is similar to being a nuclear scientist? THE WHOLE PROBLEM LIES IN THE FACT THE WE HAVE CAREER POLITICIANS. They have so much experience that they know how to stay in power and milk the system. The founding fathers designed the system for ordinary educated intelligent men(and women now) to make decisions in a changing world that puts our country in the best possible future it can have. You are definately right that a seasoned politician is very good at what (s)he does but that in my view is exactly the problem. Politicians just have to make decisions. Are you saying that arnold is not going to understand the choices he will have to vote on? will the terms be too legalistic for his small underdeveloped brain? Gimme a freakin break. And we non californians do have a right to voice our opinion as the plight of california effects the rest of us who are watching california sink. so instead of resenting the rest of the country because we are doing things a little better than Great Ole California, suck up your pride and objectively listen to what others have to say. It would be a shame to see the continuing demise of one of the greatest states in the country due to their own arrogance. PS. this is referring to a few californians on this post obviously I know not all share their views, you know who you are.

I’m suprised some of you more conservative types on here support Arnold, given he is:

  1. pro-choice

  2. pro-gay rights (including marriage)

  3. in favor of gun regulations

his only real conservative bent is economics, or fiscal management.

FYI. California has term limits. Career politician doesn’t quite mean the same thing as it used to here.

Rummy, let me explain this “conservatives for the Oak” movement that you’re noticing. Conservatives are notoriously republican, and republicans are notoriously money-grubbing whores. While they do typically support conservative moral values (they don’t like them thar nelly boyz or those baby-murdering abortionists), they will quickly forget those in favor of more money. That’s the nature of a Republican.

Haha, don’t dress up in your white sheets and burn a cross in my front yard; I’m just kidding. I think a lot of people define themselves as conservative because they agree with conservative econonmics along with some other non-moral stances, like a powerful military. (Powerful does not necessarily mean “bigger”). Anyway, many economically conservative people are actually pretty progressive on a lot of issues.

I’m suprised some of you more conservative types on here support Arnold, given he is:

That’s is very interesting because It appears he has conservative views on economic issues and liberal views on social issues.According to my American Goverment college text book that would make him a Libertarian party member and not a Republican.

Go away for a few day and look what happens. :^P

A lot of people in California are pissed off at Davis. Over 25% of the Democrats in California want Davis to leave. California is in an economic free fall. Davis is blamed for keeping California’s economic problems quiet until after the election, (as stated earlier,) and this is what fueled the signatures for the recall.

The large pool of candidates may seem like a joke, (and many of them are,) but this shows democracy at work. Over a hundred people are on the ballot, and many are just normal people, and regardless of who runs one of them is going to be the Governor.

The recall follows the laws put in place in California, and no previous attempt to recall a Governor has succeeded in the past. This shows how pissed off people are. I heard one person complain about the tripling of the taxes on cars. (He didn’t go into detail as to which taxes.)

Regardless of who funded the recall signatures I doubt anyone too conservative could become Governor in California. Arnie is much more liberal then most Republicans so he can be politically acceptable to California, and being a Republican will make him palatable to many less extreme Republicans. He would not be as successful in a more conservative state.

Regardless of how people see him, he is a very powerful man, and knows what he is doing. This man knows how to play the game, and he is good at it. If you know the stories of how he won so many bodybuilding competitions then you will understand that he uses his mind and abilities very shrewdly. He is not successful just because he is big, or was. And unlike many in Hollywood, he took his money and invested it in real estate in California. I have heard estimates of $200 mil to over $800 mil in net worth, and it didn?t happen by accident.

And his acting career is not a result of his acting ability, but his ability to wheel and deal. Again he knows how to play the game, and he is damn good at it.

He specifically chose to jump in right now because the economy is turning around. The drop in the unemployment rate recently means that the recovery is over, and we are now at the beginning of expansion. This means that anything he does to help the economy will be multiplied by the improving economy. He knows that the timing is perfect, and he will get credit for what is already happening.

People are complaining that he is not stating his position, but he won?t do that until his high ride starts to decline. Right now the worst thing he can do is to speak too soon. So he is going to keep his mouth shut, and speak in generalities. In the meantime he is preparing just in case he needs to state is position so it is as polished as possible, but he won’t open his mouth and risk his numbers if he doesn’t have to. He knows speaking too soon can only hurt him.

Now if I lived in California I would vote for Gary Coleman. Doesn’t he support the little people? Let’s see if we can get a big backing of Gary.

Regardless I would love to see a candidate win with 1% of the vote. Unlikely, but possible.
