So, someone wrote on this forum that Arnold is just interested in the “title” of being governor??? How ridiculous is that??? It makes no sense to put him and his family in that tough of a situation if that is his motive. Arnold is waaaaayyyyy to smart for that!
And Goldberg…what does he being from Austria have anything to do with him not being an example of the American dream?? Not trying to pick a fight with ya big fella!..just wondering about that comment is all…Now, all of us are immigrants or descendents of immigrants in this here O’l US of A!!
The fact that he started with very little and is now very rich. it has nothing to do with the fact that he came from another country. i dont know how you got that idea.
Can anyone actually name something that the governor can do to correct the current problem? Can anyone name something that Davis did wrong? THe governor doesn’t create the budget, the legislature does…
What I’m really bummed out about is all of these people who are running for this thing.
Totally rediculous, $3000 and 65 signatures will put you in the running.
All kinds of people are running just for free advertisement and a chance at their “15 minutes”
There are radio DJ’s, celebrities, total political wacko’s pining to be involved. This is going to be a freaking circus and there isn’t much that can be done about it.
Is this going to solve what is really wrong with Califoria? Hell no.
I know why Arnold will get votes. He’s all image & no substance. People like him because he drives Hummers. What credentials does Arnold have that would help him with running a government, except that he’s a former bodybuilder?
Couple of points, first about the California?s deficit and budget problems, kuri, anti terrorism isn’t the big issue, the deficit stems mainly from the drop in revenue due to the decline in the economy. The previous tech boom was very good for California and the Silicon Valley. California actually had a budget surplus under former Governor Pete Wilson. Davis increased expenditures and when the market turned south the tax revenue decreased which of course made the budget deficit increase.
And jodgey, about the tax cuts that “NOONE” wanted, you are mistaken. Actually, both democrats and republicans wanted a tax cut to give a boost to the economy, the debate was how to cut taxes and by how much.
The best thing to help California would be a turn around in the economy and a cut back in the spending.
My main complaint about Davis is that he kept the debt somewhat of a secret until after the elections. Once he was reelected it was, “and oh by the way, we are out of money.”
As far as Arnold goes, I watched his press conference last night and he is not a polished politician, but he speaks from the heart, and that is rare in politics. If I hadn’t just moved out of California exactly 1 week ago, I would consider voting for him on that quality alone. If he could get the state legislature under control, approve a realistic budget, when the economy turns around over the next couple of years the whole mess can be put behind us and Arnold will come out looking pretty good (or whoever else happens to be running the state).
As a Democrat and a California voter I can tell you that I have been unimpressed with the way Gray Davis has run the state. One thing that he has done wrong is that he sold himself to special interest groups to get elected to a second term. Take a look at the bills he vetoed his first term and then approved his second term, you will find that in most cases that the bills he signed were supported by groups that gave him a large sum of money.
Should he be blamed for all of the problems in Cali? Heck no, the Assembly and the Senate along with the voters are as equally guilty.
If Arnold stays true to his word and does not take money from special interest groups, he just might get my vote.
Arnold would get my vote everytime. He knows about hard work…not living off the government mammary…is NOT lazy…and can’t be bought my special interests…and he is the King afterall!
Of course…like myself and Montrosefan…he knows bodybuilding is a sport…but I digress!!
