Arming Syrian Rebels

Aye, Pushbeard, me olde matey. That shows ye be usin’ a damned sight more wit than ye did on yer previous invention, “Bloody Varq”.

One of my girlfriends used to call me “Tony Snark”… presumably because I reminded her of Robert Downey Jr.

I am actually all for setting up a puppet government over there. If we intervene, it has to be to the point we plant our flag. We cannot let the rebels run the show, it will be a theocracy much like the Taliban, we cannot support Assad, he’s all but done. So a new government is going to take effect, we have to intervene to the point where we can ensure they will do no harm to us or our interests.
Good plan. Can’t see what could possibly go wrong. Hey, it worked in Iraq.
Technically, yes. It did. That doesn’t mean I was a fan of the war, but ultimately it did work. Does not mean the process wasn’t ugly.
the difference is with Syria, is that government is going to change regardless of what we do. My whole goal is simply to take said bad situation and at least prevent it from becoming the worst case scenario in terms of another, violent Islamic theocracy popping into existence in the ME.
My other point is there is simply no ‘hands-off’ for the U.S., we are involved no matter what. So for what it’s worth, we need to push it towards more U.S. friendly rule.

Technically Iraq is all fucked up and it’s going to be in a bloody civil war until AQ Iraq takes it over or Iran empowers the Shias and Iran takes it over. Installing governments simply wont work. It’d be like thinking the citizens of this nation would roll over and accept Sharia Law and having the United States turned into an Islamic emirate. America half-asses too many things to really have a US friendly government.

We prefer to throw money at a problem instead of actually fixing a problem.
