Are Your Dogs Spoiled?

The first time the attach happened on his property, so we split the bill and didn’t make a big deal out of it. This time the dog was in his yard playing with it’s ower, and stopped jumped the fence and attacked and killed our dog infront of my daughter.
I not sueing I am just upset about my daughter, and how it effected her!

This is a picture of my other dog, Boss he is a Pug/Boxer… he will miss his girlfriend Angel more then the rest of us!

His favorite way to sleep.

Sorry to hyjack. I had a miniture dash hound, my daughter’s dog. The neihbor’s two shepards killed it yesterday (Wed.) while I was posting here, believeit or not. There’s a post where I said I gotta go dogs are fighting. I was going to start my own thread about it, than I saw this one. It was a cute little thing only about 8 lbs, scared of it’s own shadow. I ended up calling the cops, and buddy got charged, one of the dogs got taken to be put down. The crazzy part is that a little over a year ago same two dogs kicked the shit out the same dash hound. It cost me $1600 to keep him alive ( 200 stitches) and the cops wouldn’t do anything that time.

Buddy promised to keep his dogs caged or muzzeled, thats the reason he got charged this time, because he didn’t. Thing is my 6yr daughter wacthed the whole thing happen, right in front of her. I’m debating suing the guy it’s just not my style.
Wow dude, im sorry to hear that. I cant offer you any advice other than to explain to your kid what happen. Its all you can do now that one of the dogs is being put down. Blame the owner, not the breed friend. That guy sounds like scum.

I don’t have a dog anymore so I can’t say whether it was spoiled or if more dogs are being “spoiled” nowadays.

However, I believe there is less discipline for dogs nowadays.

I work in sales for a lawncare company, so regularly I’m going to peoples houses or sometimes even cold knocking houses to generate some more leads. And my general consensus after doing this for 6 months is that nobody disciplines their dogs. And yes I do mean nobody…as in out of the hundreds of dogs I’ve encountered I can think of 4 that were well behaved. The fucking bark like no other, they jump all over you like you’re a fucking toy, they run out of the house even when the homeowner tries to prevent it or even stop them, they shit eevvvvveeeerrrrryyyyyywhere, and I’ve even had a few of them try to bite at me after I’ve established nicesities with their owner.

LIke I said I don’t have a dog anymore. But I did when I was younger and I could not for the life of me think that my parents would have ever let our dog get away with any of that shit more than once.

And when I say bark like no other I mean like just sit there while we’re talking and bark and bark and bark.

Not sure if anyone else have encountered this or not.
I kinda view it like what I would assume my grandparents view kids nowadays. And in that same respect it seems like people are almost timid to control and discipline their dogs in public.

I dunno Phoenix, maybe you just notice it more now that you’re doing what you do. Then again, I was amazed when I visited the part of Alabama that my wife is from. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY kept dogs leashed, tied or fenced in. No matter what breed or type of area, city or country.

After so many just walking out in front of the car I figured fuck it, start hitting them.

This is Radar, my Dachshund mix. He’s not spoiled. Doesn’t beg for nor get table food, doesn’t bark excessively (for the most part, he’s still a dachshund lol), walks well on a leash, waits for my permission to eat his food, plays well with MOST dogs and is generally pretty indifferent to those who show aggression towards him. The only thing is that he’s got separation anxiety, which is a pain, but he’s getting better.

He IS aggressive towards a very selective few, however. He’s never bit or even snapped at anyone, but he growls and shows teeth towards some people. When I rescued him two and a half months ago, they told me they were very unsure of his past - but I’m pretty sure there were some people in his life that he wasn’t too fond of.

My dogs are spoiled but that’s OK because it’s not like one of them is going to get married to some other dog and nag him and act like a fucking princess and be overly demanding with him because after all she’s only a dog and can’t talk.

Aight, too many “breed” dogs.

Who here has some mutts?
Blue Heeler/Staffordshire Bull Terrier that I got as a 10 month old stray.

Guy has his bed decked out with pillows and a blanket that I cover him with. Kiddo doesn’t move all night. Loves to cuddle but is a little rough when he gets excited. Bitten me a couple times too hard. Great watch dog. Little guy with a big damn attitude towards strangers.

Spoiled? Yes, undisciplined not a bloody chance.

Love her to bits though, she likes to chew ears, has only even bitten when she was a pup and got too excited with rough and tumble, and always got punished for it,

I noticed that you guys didn’t crop their ears. If I got one, I wouldn’t know if I’d want to or not. On one hand, they look so much better, on the other…you ARE cutting a piece of body part off him/her.
Kal-el seems to like all of his body parts…so I won’t be trimming any of them.

I personally hate they cut his balls off…even though he seems to be growing them back somehow.
Agreed, all it does is cause unnecessary pain to the animal with no benefits other than cosmetic.
I felt the same way but he started pissing blood so they snipped him to shrink the prostate. Dog never chased anything or humped until they cut his balls off.

Meet Loki, pound puppy extraordinaire, golden/collie mix I think. Not really spoiled but well loved. Stays off the furniture, doesn’t beg and does what he is told. Best dog I have ever had.

Had a scare with him this summer where he basically couldn’t move his head and we thought we were going to have to put him down, but he is better now.

For a lot of dogs neutering them is actually beneficial to their health. I was more referring to bobbing of tails and clipping of ears just to achieve a look.

Best of buds in this pic. Grown up together since he was a puppy. I pity the person who tries to harm him with this dog around.

My bad I missed that you were talking about tails and ears. Guess cosmetic should have been my clue, I mean who looks better without their balls?

I’ve been to about a half dozen shelters in Va. & up the Eastern shore. All of them are now neutering & micro-chiping. Told by a handful of people that the neutering is due to the aggressiveness that is being found more & more in the so called ‘street dog.’ In their position I understand. Some of these shelters are housing up to 70 dogs.
