I am obsessed. I am actually proud of it too. I love this shit. I would hate it if i could never train again. I think I look like that too just like most will.
Just try to keep balance in the rest of your life.
Everything fades away eventually, including your looks. Therefore, living for something that temporary alone is a waste of life.
Balance in everything should be the goal…and no one can dictate what YOU should sacrifice for a goal.

Absolutely - I agree with what you’re saying. If you intend to stand out then no doubt some level of obsession is necessary. I’m just saying healthy obsession vs. unhealthy obsession. Like your point about someone dropping out of school vs someone who is successful at all facets of life, as well as their bodybuilding.
And if you intend to compete at even the national level, that’s a whole other level of necessary obsession.
I love the lifestyle - I love lifting, and the science behind it all, gathering and utilizing information to provide visible results. Seeing the body change in a positive way has always been the most motivating factor of it all for me…

Singular obsession is unhealthy. When you are so focused on one goal that you sacrifice more important/needed things in life to achieve that goal, I feel its unhealthy. I sacrifice a lot to get into the gym everyday but not to the extent that it interferes with family or work. But Hey, I think that’s most of us in here.

Exactly. It’s probably all semantics but I’d classify that as dedicated, not obsessed.
(Maybe the word “obsessed” has such a negative stigma I’m hesitant to use it at all except in a negative light)
ition. Thanks to BONEZ and a few other resident hardasses, I starting eating less like a rabbit and more like a bull and I’ve finally resumed putting on weight - the advice was spot on, and thats why a lot of us are here, take in advice and learn something.
Also LM, congrats on fatherhood! Get ready to lose some serious sleep time though lol[/quote]
You started grazing on grass? Moved on to greener pastures so to speak…

Just as a point of interest - below is a comment i saw about Bille Pearl on Youtube:
“Bill doesn’t look too pumped up anymore. His arms look like an average mans. What he have to show for it?”
Ok, Youtube is full of fools but i’ve heard this kind of thing before - that because age is the great leveller there is somehow no point in having been great physically as it all goes away. I think that mindset misses the whole point of living a life, as if the final years are the only measure of it. staggering.

I like to drink red wine. This girl asked me once if red wine gave me a headache. I said, ‘Sure, eventually, but the first and middle parts are amazing!’ I’m not going to give up on something because of what it does eventually. It’s like, ‘Hey Mitch, do you want an apple?’ ‘No, eventually it will be a core.’"

I definitely have that “gene”. It is either focus that energy on something productive…or go back to trying to rule the world.
…and let’s face it, ruling the world is so “90’s”.

But you do have the hat now so I think you could really pull it off.

Agreed, to a point. I’ve always been somewhat of an all or nothing person. Either something HUGELY interests me, and I can do it for hours/week/years on end without getting sick of it, or it doesn’t interest me for more than a couple days before I move on.
Anyone here actually OCD to a severe degree or anything? OCD people and exercise is some sick shit to watch… I’m not talking from determination, just from how nasty they get when you try and get between them and their schedule even if by accident.

I definitely agree with this. I’ve been called OCD more times than I can count, but it’s because of that that I pretty much always reach the goals I set and most people who know me say I have more will power/determination than anyone else they know. Not that it’s always a good thing…but I wouldn’t trade it for an always relaxed/chill attitude.
