Are Carbs What Cause Water Retention and Squishy Skin?

I noticed that i have squishy skin and fat despite being able to see my abs. My friends who dont diet or lift have tighter skin and fat. They have no abs and their skin and fat is harder to pull away from their body. I can pinch a good amount of skin and pull it away from my body and im assuming it could be because of my carb intake. It ranges from as low as 120g to as high as 410g.

I was considering going carnivore during my cut because of the water retention. During my last cut when i ate less calories, my highest carb day was only 290g and. My fat and skin isnt even close to what it is now.

Could water retention also be a sign of eating too many carbs?

If your eating the right amount of carbs for your workload the water and glycogen will be in the muscle. If you eat too many carbs you will spill over and have more water under the skin.
You need to play with carbs vs work to see what works for you.

Thanks man. I had a gut feeling I was eating way too many carbs which is why my fat loss took longer rhan it was supposed to. Does this mean im sensitive to carbs, or do i just not need as many carbs as i thought to refill glycogen stores?

This is totally personal. You need to play around with the numbers until you find what works for you.
