Anything's Possible

Thanks for that, trs!

Its the magical time of week again, Deadlifts!! For some reason, this is only my second time dl’ing…everything else is caught up…maybe I missed a day somewhere. gonna bring the camera with me to check form…My low back was pretty tight for a couple days after last week.
And if you can believe it my poor bum is still sore from last Thursdays single leg dl’s/lunges…but those are the exercises I want to stick to for a few weeks more…and they don’t hurt while Im doing em…

Good training today

Although I goofed on my last set of DL’s and forgot I was supposed to do amrap…oopsie! I even laughed at myself, which is ok to do!

warmups, hypers, plank hold 1:10s…meh, my abs are still sore from the pushups I did with my feet on the ball(saturday 5x10)

Back feel fine…got some vids, to see if/where form fails…Looks like I could get my but down further, that much I know…its pretty hard when your leggy I think. I dont feel deads in my hamstrings at all, but in my quads…weird??

So obviously I’m kinda sucky at DLs…and sorry about the sucky music…my ipod crapped out on me, so I had to listen to it too :frowning:

Also taped a front squat just to see what it looked like

Aaaaand, my sldl’s…they need work…don’t laugh… ok, you can laugh, need to try these out with dbs…and whats weird is that left (glute?) is stronger…I get all wobbly on my right leg…

They are actually easier, with some weight on the bar…easier to control.

ETA: I posted the front squat twice!

ok, quit yer oogling…no views without responding here!! :stuck_out_tongue:

nice work !!!

Thanks!

Figured out why my dl’s felt ‘off.’ I forgot to take my shoes off!! They give me at least 1.5"

Further to travel, and all that…

MIM, you can’t go wrong on the front squat, unless your hip flexors are super-tight and you can’t hit depth. I actually feel more confident going ATG on these than back squats.

Before, I forget…here ya go!

haha, been there done that!

I hear ya on the front squats…it just feels right!

my brain just hatched an idea!

I’ll try sumo DL next time!

I don’t know MIM, those Dls look pretty darn good! And 180 is pretty freaking awesome.

Front squats have nice depth and you keep your elbows nice and high (that’s hard for me).

I’ll let the proffs give you a proper critique, but all in all i think you’re lifts are looking great!

lookin good MIM.

Mim, I think the deadlifts look pretty good too. On the first 180, it looked like the bar was a little far out in front of you but what do I know you lift more than me.

Squats look good. And is it just the camera angle or are you getting finer??

looks Great to me!

Nice work MinM… dead lifts look good.
real good.

A wee bit more arch in the back- and you can let it ride down on your thighs…nit picky stuff, but your
looking great.!!

front squats looked good too- and any unilateral work is going to surprise you, when one leg is off.

ps you are looking very athletic.

dont let the bar roll away from you that far. its also starting really far away from your shins. sit back more for your setup. throw your hips forward, drive thru ur heels, squeeze the hell outta your glutes. dont pull up, pull back. the bar will come up by nature of your hips coming forward/legs straightening.

I see you jerking on the bar before a pull (just a little bit, but it’s there.), which is a bad habit to get into. its how people rip their biceps off their elbows.

dont hyperextend at lockout. SQUEEZE YOUR GLUTES, and set your shoulders back. (the shoulders thing is iffy. some do, some dont)

mominmd, looked pretty good, follow cbears advice and you should be good, also one thing to do is to make sure that the legs don’t get fully extended before your back, it’s pretty close, but you do a bit of a stiff legged deadlift at the end of most of the deadlifts. That is what cbear is saying by driving the glutes and hips through. just my 2 cents.

Front squats looked pretty good, you sat down by breaking at the hips first and stood tall throughout.

Hhahah, ohhh whoops i forgot you said not to laugh at the single leg deadlifts, not my area of expertise, i am known as the leaning tower of piza due to my horrendous balance.

Btw i actually like the music, not heavy metal by any means, but has a good beat to get down with.
Favorited the tik tok soung thanks skyel7

Apparently there is a youtube video contribution thing, here is the one i’ve been listening to while i’ve read articles for the last 4 hours.
MEDITATION MUSIC - Feng Shui- Kokin Gumi - Zen Garden - YouTube

Thanks for all the comments, critiques! much appreciated  More finer and athletic looking? Thats the other part of my plan!

Like many of you, I’m still learning(aren’t we all?) And I do this on my own…if I could have you all standing around telling me what to do while I do it, that would be great! But instead, I keep you in my head :stuck_out_tongue:

Its like I know WHAT to do, but putting all the steps together to make it work; thats the tricky part …I gotta resist the urge to just pick the weight up off the floor…the dead lift is tricky!

Gonna take new progress pics today…the other ones were 10lbs ago!

Heracles- I like this:

Or this:

I went through a slight raver girl stint when I was living at my dads when I was 16…

Ahh, brings back memories

But then I found Sevendust

I used to go to a lot of punk shows growing up in Vegas as well. But I’m all growed up now…although I think there is a show coming up in April(sevendust)

Today is MP day, wahoo!

Cbear is right on the money

There are couple things many people overlook.

Warm up sets

I don’t know if you do any ?

I remember the first time I lifted at westside barbell. I was so luck to get to lift with chuck V .

we were doing pin pulls chuck started with the bar I was amazed at how long he took to set up just the bar he was super serious guys were even coaching him on setting up on the bar he pulled it for about 20. Same with 135 ever rep was super fast and looked the same. He went up by 100s all
the way to 1100 lbs … They all looked the same

I asked chuck about this

He said I treat ever set like it is max warm up included. The warm up is an excellent time to reinforce tech and work on speed.
And to get everything firing andworking in the right way
