the only healthy sausages will be ones you make yourself from freshly slaughtered game. including organ meats and brain tissue would provide a high level of micronutrients and healthy fats. fat balance would probably be near ideal. add fruit and veggies and you have a prefect meal.

Yup. It’s true. However, if you go to whole foods, trader joes, or wild oats, Nieman Ranch makes an all natural hot do with no sugar and no nitrates added. So goes grassland beef online. But they are expensive. Good, but expensive. That money could be used to buy far better meat sources like steak, etc.
A hot dog once in a while isn’t going to make any difference in the long run.
People tend to concentrate too much on details, make sure your overall diet is OK, that’s more important then avoiding certain foods because they’re “bad”.

What magical transformation takes place in store bought Grade A meat (beef, pork or lamb) that transforms it into unhealthy meat when you grind it up and make it into sausage?
I’m not in search of “the perfect meal” (to the extent it even exists). The vast majority of food that I eat is run of the mill heathy, fresh meat and vegetables. Why should sausage be held to a higher standard?
I haven’t had a hotdog in over 5 years. Hot dogs are literally the most disgusting meat ever, next to chorizo. You are essentially biting into a big glob of animal fat. It took me a few years to realize that hot dogs just are not natural meat. If you need calories, buy a jug of freaking milk, its about as cheap, and its healthier.
For some reason though, I like sausage. I don’t understand why I like sausage and hate hot dogs, other then maybe sausage have seasonings, whereas hot dogs are just eyeballs and intestines.
