Lets turn this into a list about everything that sucks about Russia.

hollywood has been fucking up books since they started using them for movies, it’s what they do, and i wouldnt expect this to be any different.

Thanks for the love, everyone!

Come at the USA bro!

On my phone, that looked like some clip from a kinky Sarah Silverman/Jimmy Kimmel sex tape.
“”…whether you see Sienna or you see me up on the screen, it doesn’t really matter. If people get the hardships, that’s enough. If there’s one other person who is married to a first-responder and sees the film and feels a little less alone, I’ll be happy"
“It was like watching Chris in many, many ways,” “I walked away in awe. The spirit and the heart, Bradley captured all of that. … Chris’s life was inspiring, and I think that the movie is one more way for him to serve” -Wife, Taya Kyle (LA Times).“”
Good enough for me.
Does the movie address any of the shit he lied about? Not trying to stir the pot, honestly curious.

No it was great.
/thread
How was it great? It took an awesome book, changed almost everything in it, added a bunch of false stuff which added nothing to it and had some awful acting.
If you don’t like America why don’t you go live in Russia with Michael Moore and the rest of your comrades?
Did someone in this thread say he doesn’t like America?
Are you implying there is something wrong with Russia?
When you get to Russia be sure to watch some soccer and let us know how you like smoking those commie cigarettes with your mail-order bride.
Communism ended.
I wouldn’t mind watching some soccer.
I don’t smoke.
I already have a fiance.
What’s wrong with living in Russia again?
Let me explain how jokes work. Let’s start with the relevant part of the original post.
Derek542, obviously a fan of the movie, wrote a simple post showing that he was a fan of the movie and not really interested in what the OP thought. Knowing Derek542, the post was all in good fun.
Perlenbaher15 was obviously not satisfied with that and wanted to engage in a deeper discussion. Knowing that he already indicated his annoyance with the dismissal of critics as America-haters, a notion which any rational person would realize is absurd, I poked some fun at him and told him to move to Russia with Michael Moore and his comrades.
He got the joke.
Of course, Michael Moore does NOT live in Russia and, as you pointed out, Russia is no longer under communist rule. The line I used is reminiscent of pre-Soviet collapse rhetoric used to shout down people who were perceived as un-American. It is, of course, very empty rhetoric and an absurd counter to any well-thought out position.
Then some great images of over-the-top American imagery were posted. These were great, and a sure sign that others recognized the absurdity of calling even the most mild criticism of the movie “un-American”.
You missed it, apparently, so I ratcheted up the stupid to see if you’d maybe want to join in on the fun. No luck.
Soccer’s only significance is that it generally perceived as a sport people outside of America play. I don’t think it is even very popular in Russia. Commie cigarettes just sounded fun and, as someone else already observed, getting a Russian mail-order bride AFTER you move to Russia makes no sense at all.
Others got that joke too.
I was going to keep running with this, but I decided to put a stop to this nonsense once and for all. I hope this helps.
I plan on seeing the movie this weekend.

I just read all the post in here up to this one. Fucking hilarious. I will end my time in this thread on this post. That was funny man

Having read the book and seen the movie I agree completely with the OP. I still enjoyed the movie.

Read the book. Will see the movie. Am disappointed that Hollywood felt the need to bastardized such an incredible story by changing substantial facts.
I’ll never understand that, especially when you begin with an incredible true story. Will probably enjoy the film anyway.
Chris Kyle’s legacy is all the servicemen who are still alive as a result of his work on the gun. The rest is trivial anyway.
What do American servicemen think in general of other servicemen who write accounts of their time in special forces?
I remember the SAS guy Mcnabb who wrote a book was ostracized for it.
Maybe it’s cathartic for some of these guys to write, and maybe they want the American public in general to have a first hand/primary source account of the experiences in modern warfare. OR maybe some are trying to cash in.
As for SOF guys writing books- meh. I don’t idolize them, they did their mission, we did ours. If going into their organization there was an expectation of non-disclosure about training and operations-- and then they violated that understanding or agreement then yes, I’d be pissed. Don’t talk about family to outsiders.
Personally, I’ve reached saturation on SOF/SEALs writing books, making movies, and being technical advisors on video games. Enough already, man. Be proud of your service, and share war stories with your team mates- but for fuck’s sake behave like a professional and maintain some semblance of reservation. It’s like wearing a H.S. letter jacket when you’re 30…
