Anyone Got a PS3?

I got a ps3 and love the system, Folklore is by far one of the best games I have ever played. its a great system and its very realiable, dont have to worry about over heating, and you dont have to worry about getting the new and improved version every year like you do with the 360.

I don’t know, I’d rather buy a fully enabled PS3 with max HD space, rather than a watered down, crippled version of the machine. If it’s just an extra $100, why not.

Sooo many things to choose from…Wii, 360, PS3…what to do, what to do?

Yeah, I love the Ratchet & Clank games!

I’ve got an original XBOX, which I modded and hacked myself, and a PS2, but I’ve always found the PS2 to be more playable than the XBOX because the camera motion of action on screen seems smoother, easier to follow and more well behaved. With the old XBOX, it’s kind of jerky in a lot of games and tends to play up a lot, which gives me a real headache. I hope they’ve improved it in the 360.

If you’re looking to start gaming right away, I’d suggest getting the 360 or wii if money is tight. They have a much larger library of games. Sony’s good games (that I’m interested in) are finally starting to come out now, so if you’re not in a rush…wait it out till you have the cash!

I’ll just assume you don’t have a ps3 based off your negativity towards the console. In the end, consumers will choose if the 40gb is a good deal. So far, it appears that Amazon has sold out of its pre-orders for the 40gb+Spiderman 3.

To the OP: I agree with you about Heavenly Sword, that was a great game! I’m also playing Folklore and will be getting Ratchet & Clank. If you’re into action adventure, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is coming out in November. That should be a real big hit.

I’m also waiting for Tekken 6, Soul Caliber 4 and the recently announced Street Fighter 4.
We understand you work the for Sony however, this is tnation and not your Company intranet. People are actually looking for open and honest opinions, not some Corporate fed run of the mill bullshit.

I have owned numerous consoles (nintendo, super nintendo, nintendo 64, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2 and Xbox) and played all 3 discussed here.

Sony offers the least in terms of bang for the buck.

Sony (i.e., the Company you work for) should have dropped the price on the 60gb console rather than discontinuing it.

It also comes packaged with Motorstorm, which is a pretty good deal. I’m probably going to sell my 60GB model and go buy one of those for the extra storage.

I’d like to check out Warhawk, but I’ll probably wait until the price drops to buy it. I hear it’s alot of fun though. Call of Duty 4 comes out soon but I’ll buy that for the 360 since the multiplayer will be better.

I don’t think SandSkorpion works for Sony, or else he wouldn’t have recommended the Wii or XBOX 360. What company employee would steer a consumer towards the competition?

RickyBobby, deflate the air out of your chest and read what I posted. You also keep bringing up the same points that we have discussed, and practically agree on.

What we don’t agree on is your conclusion that the 40gb is a pos. This thread was not asking whose console is better.

Thanks for your credentials on what you’ve owned…it’s completely irrelevant to the discussion. I’ve also owned Atari, Intellivision, and a Sega Genesis…so I guess that qualifies me to be an expert like you.

This thread is now nothing but a pissing match…mild entertainment for the bored. If you’d like to continue flaming me, take it to PM. But if you actually read what I posted, you’d see that it isn’t necessary.

why would you buy a ps3, the wii and 360 are soo much better-not to mention WAY cheaper-

Weve got a wii and 360 (with ring of death), also a N64 and a DS!

Don’t get all butthurt on me.

Soul Caliber 4 will be on my list.
I have the 60gb model, it was confusing when we (son+me) went to the local gamestore and looked at the bundles on offer:
Bundle #1 60gb PS3 + 2 games (from a selection of 4)=£425

Bundle #2 60gb PS3 + 2 games (same choice as above)+ 3 Bluray DVDs + extra controller =£425.
When I asked the reply was that the better offer was a Sony promo and the other was the store’s promo, which wasn’t selling well. I went for the Sony deal which, after trading in a load of stuff (PS2 + games etc) came to £300

I was well chuffed!

Even 2 or 3 weeks later when the price dropped (Sony offer gone) I’m glad I bought it then.

On a side note, my (son’s) 360 has the ring of death. I contacted Microsoft and they said “no probs we’ll fix it for free” Trouble is it took 2 weeks before they arranged pick up and after another 2 weeks I’m still waiting for it to return. I got the feeling that everyone I dealt with on the 'phone was trying to delay me. Crap service!

Wtf is a ring of death?

I’ll get one when they put backwards compatibility back on the base model and come out with some decent games to play.

Until then its a shiny paperweight/blu-ray player.

I’ll enjoy my PS2 for now.

B/C is NOT a major issue unless you have a shit load of ps2 games, and no ps2 to play them on. If you want to consolidate your consoles, by all means get the 80gb.

Where is the problem? The 40gb does the main two things people want from the console…ps3 games and Blu-Ray movies.
Its a major issue because there aren’t enough decent ps3 games to warrant a purchase. What’s the point of buying a system if you can’t play any games?

That’s the point of B/C. So you can actually use it as a game console until (or even if) those games become available.

Until then its a blu-ray player with a couple of decent games.

hell I don’t know if I want a 360 because of the failure rate and shit but I love Splinter Cell and Ninja Gaiden series…and yet the PS3 seems to be more stable but there are no damn games…YET.

It will probably be this time next year before there is a decent library of PS3 games…along with an actual price cut on a COMPLETE PS3 system instead of SONY playing with my emotions.

wedding ring…trust me…lol.

The PS3 is a solidly built system… but the tech, its too damn expensive. Even if it has blu-ray built in.

Yeah. Hopefully they will bring back some form of Backwards Compatibility like they had on the PS2 and ease the pains of the developers when making the games.

From what I heard, its really expensive to develop stuff for the PS3 because its so archaic. That and its not profitable to do so because there’s so few PS3 owners.

LOL well lucky for me, that’s not on the cards for quite some time yet…

wtf? The PS3 is archaic already? It’s supposed to be the latest and greatest console out.

I know how fast processor speed increases, technology develops and Moore’s Law and shit like that, but the PS3 shouldn’t be a dinosaur already - especially when the price hasn’t even dropped yet, lol.

Well, unfortunately it is. That and its badly designed from the get-go.

It was released 2 years after the 360 and the games don’t look any better. In most cases, they look slightly worse.

This console was supposed to be the latest and greatest. Full 1080p games at a minimum of 120fps according to Sony. But its on par, if not the same as a console that came out 2 years ago, which is called the Xbox 360.

Outdated? Definetly.

Heavenly sword looks better than any 360 game I own.

BTW just got the 360 back from its free (within 3 years) ring of death repair; new motherboard.

Alright I will tell you why you should get the 60 gig system over any other.

60 gig has a backwards compatability chip, the rest use emulaters, which means you will have to wait for updates to come out for it just to have certian games backwards compatible. If you dont mind updating all the time then go with the 80 but if your like me the 60 gig is just fine.
